750-foot antenna available spring 2010?
Heads up to anyone with the $$ and inclination to buy a 750-foot antenna: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13890508
This tower is on Lookout Mountain west of Denver and was the site af many pioneering base jumps, including my own BASE-qualifying jump in April 1983.
The antennae of this tower and two smaller towers have been consolidated on a new 730-footer, so they will be taken down. The smaller ones are cone-shaped and not jumpable, and will be taken down by the end of the year. The big one will go next spring.
The story lists the height at 834, but that includes a non-climbable TV antenna on top.
This is a 3-guy, triangular cross-section, constant-dimension tower with an internal ladder and no donut platforms.
The story includes some names and organizations you could contact to find out who owns it, whether it is in fact for sale, etc.
