Re: [dumbaz] who approved this?

the problem is that clueless editors can "correct" "grammar mistakes" that actually change the meaning of the text.
kind of like substituting "packing clamps" for "control your nylon"
Fortunately, TLN is only editing
her own work, so I imagine she's pretty clued in about what the original meaning was.
In the context of this web site "editing" means that someone reviews the content to be sure it's BASE related (i.e. the photo editor checks to make sure we're not being used as a porn server), then approves it for uploading. No one actually changes any of the content unless it's inappropriate for the site, in which case it's entirely removed, rather than being changed. If your grammar was bad when you wrote a gear review, then you're pretty much stuck with the whole world knowing about it.
GreenMachine kindly offered to take on the volunteer duty of reviewing and approving some of the materials uploaded to this site. He is not changing (even to correct grammar) anyone's gear reviews, articles, or anything else. I appreciate the people who've volunteered to do this sort of thing a great deal.
There are several other editors. Due to the nature of the system (over which I have no control) and the fact that the work they do is in some of the other sections (photos, videos, classifieds), you do not see their names listed at the bottom of the "gear reviews" section. This is basically because the text uploads (gear reviews, articles) are in one database, the classified ads are in another, and the media uploads (photos and videos) are in yet another.
