Quick and easy Europe sites
I’m planning my next vacation trip through Europe by the end of March/ beginning of April. I’ll be with my wife so this is definitely not a BASE trip. The areas of interest are Portugal, Spain, France, Holland and Swiss but can be easily adjusted to other not so far countries.
Although this is not a BASE trip I would love to take the opportunity to make a few jumps in Europe for the first time. I don’t intend to make many jumps or to spend more than 2 days focused on BASE jumping so which BASE site would you recommend?

Seeya!

I know a cool country for Jumping, Twin Falls. Go there for a week and save your money.

If you've got the skills for it (good subterminal track, primarily), go to LB. It's a nice tourist spot for the wife to see, and has other things to do, plus the jumps can be done pretty quickly, so you can spend time with her and do a jump or two on the same day.

Thanks Tom, that’s exactly what I was looking for. Hope the weather is good there (I know I’m not traveling in the best season).
Is renting BASE gear an option there? I’m not sure if I’m willing to carry my rig to make only 2 or 3 jumps.
Thanks again

I don't believe you can rent gear anywhere in Europe aside from Norway (or maybe with some organized courses in Spain).

Please, read: Sticky: Jumping Site Guidelines, by Location.

LB is surely quick, but several deathly accidents have proved it is maybe not so easy. New place, rented gear...

I didn't want to chime in.....but my thoughts exactly.
Add to the fact the last two times I've been in March the exit points still had alot of significant snow and melting snow.....still doable, but much trickier/slippier at the exit points, hardly ideal for your first jumps there.

It sounds like the original poster wants a dropzone .
If you want quick , easy access on rented gear with no complications.....have you considered just skydiving in these European locations ??
There are some beautiful and scenic dropzones to enjoy in Europe .

First time in Lauterbrunnen , in slippier conditions, on rented gear and 'on a clock'......doesnt sound a great combo to me.

Thank you all for the information. I have already reconsidered the idea. Unless I can find other LB experienced jumpers to go with me I’ll do it some other time.
Thanks!

the only really easy cliff i know of is the italian terminal wall. LB seems to kill a lot of jumpers.

Brento? Italy was not on my plans this time but I may reconsider if it is a safer jump than LB.

Yes, Brento is safer than LB. Unfortunatly the fatality list is not existing anymore because there you would see that also more than a hand full of jumpers went in at Brento as well. The last fatality (as far as I know) at Brento was a very, very experienced jumper. So pls also do not underestimate this jump.
LB, as other mentioned, is for jumpers with good experience in subterminal tracking. For the last couple of years we have at least 3 fatalities per year in LB, more than on any other place in the world. Most of these fatalities are from people who have underestimated LB.

Yes, Brento is safer jump, when concidering rockdrop, height and overhanging nature of the cliff. Still fatalities have occured there, and propably will occur. If going there, be especially beware of meteorological conditions, and have a local with you. And read the sticky...

If you'd like to skydive in Germany, Netherlands or Belgium, I'd love to show you some dropzones or connect you to some local BASE jumpers. (I don't BASE jump)

If you have: Bring your wingsuit!
