Helmet Hero mounts..?
The Go Pro is getting very popular and is a great camera for all kinds of sports.

On their website they have various mounts available... but im wondering how some of you are mounting to your heal / shoes?

If you have a wingsuit obviously the bootie is a factor... but there seams to be some under the suit and over the suit shots from the foot.

Maybe they have made there own mount?

Any info / links etc would be great.

Cheers all.

This is useful, I put one on my boot
with this and also saw a guy using
the same thing as a hand-cam.

I modified an old smoke bracket. It sits just outside my left ankle and even has a cut-a-way option if there is an entanglement. You can see it if you look closely at this pic.

Some are using the mount that greenmachine showed, but I find that it is too close to the calf, and frequently shows flapping material. Although that is a quick and inexpensive option.

I'll take a pic of the mount and post it this week.

I used the helmet strap mount, but added a 24" buckle strap, with the extender, and cut a small hole in my suit. works great.

I use the head mount and fix it with two rubber bands.

It's a bit of struggle to get the correct angle though...

So I was thinking about getting one of these bad boys. What kind is good for BASE and other things in general? I looked at the HD Helmet HERO and then the plain Helmet HERO Wide. Theres a hundred dollar difference between HD and Standard. So I assume the HD is way better? or is it?

What one do you guys have or are thinking about getting? Thanks.

I have 2 Hero Wides, they are cheap & rock!!

I do plan on getting at least one HD, but will

probably wait and let mom buy it for xmas Wink

Re: [mfob] Helmet Hero mounts..?
The HD is like the SD on steroids, but in the same small, compact case. Capable of 1080p video, professional sound quality, waterproof, shock proof, and it fits in your pocket.

If you are on a tight budget, go with the SD. But if you can spare the extra $100 bucks, you'll be glad you went with the HD for sure.

If you cant afford the HD over the SD....just wait until you can !
I think the difference is worth the extra 100

Just remember pretty much all these new all in ones...GoPro, Contour et al, suffer in low /no light.

There really isn't an option or fix for these things for night jumping......especially compared to a 'Nightshot' camcorder function for example.

You can start adding lights/LEDs around the case....but so far everything I have tried has negated its benefit of being a lightweight, mount anywhere camera ( as well as not performing very well)

I'd be interested to read about any solutions people have 'actually' tried to improve low light/night performance of these cams.

Just got the Contour HD and I think the picture is better than the Go Pro... but like said above, in low light/dark it just plain sucks.

Re: [Boeris] Helmet Hero mounts..?
So im sure other people have done this, but if you take the thing the camera originally comes shipped on, drill some slots, and buy a 3/4 inch webbing with a snap, you can make a $1.50 belly mount that seems to work awesome.

I use it as a ski mount. works great. I also converted the bungee helmet strap to a clip on front helmet mount.
