Sibu BASE 2009
Sibu BASE Jump 2009 went well. Yesterday we had 10 BASE jumpers jumping off Wisma Sanyan in Sibu, Malaysia.
It was a really nice day of jumping but a bit of rain slowed things down in the afternoon.
I found it a very enjoyable building to jump off with a massive landing area.
The crowd of spectators were very appreciative, although it sometimes took a while to get back to the building after jumping because everyone wanted their photo taken with us.
A few of us that were able to stay on today experienced an extra highlight of the trip, visiting an Iban longhouse. At the longhouse we experienced the very warm and friendly hospitality of the Iban people, sampled much of their rice wine and watched their boat races.
I would like to thank all BASE jumpers that came to the event. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Most importantly, a huge thanks to Captain Wallen Alexander Gugak and Aziz Ahmad for all the work in organising the event and also to Sarawak Tourism, Wisma Sanyan and everyone else that made it possible.
Authorities in Sibu are very pleased with the event and want to provide us with a bigger and better event next year.
