What is a good camera to take nighttime footage with? I'm technologically challenged and would like some opinions.

the sony hc-5 is a good night camera,, set it on nightshot, or supernight shot if it is really dark but the footage is usually poor on super... it is a good hd camera, its only drawback is size relative to the cx-100,, which is crappy in low light. should be able to get it cheapish now..

Bump. Whats a good sony cam for night work these days, the cx-100 and go pro are crap for night videos.

I have a broken Sony HC5. That is, it works but it will only shoot in nightshot option. It works for playing tapes though.

I have 2 sony PC9's that need a repair also, I bet they probbaly have the same sensors.

It seems like the older cameras are the way to go, might see if sony can fix them still.

The Nikon D4 has excellent low light capabilities. ;-)
