Steering line
I needed my lower steering line replaced and my rigger said that i only needed to replace the one and that it wouldnt be a problem. The other line has about 150 jumps on it. Having one new and one old doesnt seem right, so i was wondering if having the one new line could affect my heading on openings or give me an asymmetrical flare?

Re: [doinker] Steering line
If the brake lines were uneven, an asymmetrical flare would still be caused by your arms. Think about it... it's a parachute so fly it regardless of perfection.

Changing one brake line should be fine however I always change in pairs. If the brake lines had very few jumps on them, and I could match the other easily then I'd probably just change one.

Re: [hookitt] Steering line
it was matched up with the older one, what i was thinking though is that over time when the new one stretches that my brakes wont be set at the same length and on opening having one longer then the other would give me an off heading. Would that be a fair assumption?

Re: [doinker] Steering line
Possible however, if the line was matched correctly the lengths should remain quite constant. A minor length difference is often unnoticed.

Either get a matching new brakeline, or pay attention to the current one.

Assuming the rigger builds line kits correctly, go get a new one for the other side for piece of mind. Ideally It should have been done in pairs anyway.

If you're in doubt, write off the one you had put on and order a set of lowers from Asylum. They'll be made exactly the same and correctly.

Can you take a picture of the new and old brake settings side by side?

Re: [hookitt] Steering line
yeah i just spoke with asylum and a new set is fairly cheap so im just gonna get 2 new ones put on. That way everything should be symmetrical and i know that marty does good work. Also I can make some static lines out of the spare one. Thanks for the help, i appreciate it
