That video was bad ass. And i must respect the water proof case. Over all though, I still don't think I like it. I would rather spend an extra $100 and get a Sony. What do you think?

Have you (or anyone?) been able to compare it to the Contour HD at all? I've been looking around at these and would be keen for any opinions between the 2. Waterproof is a big bonus!

I already own a cx-12 and I think this will be a perfect addition. The ability to mount it anywhere so easily makes the biggest difference to me. Pre-ordered today!

That is nice. God damn it. I might have to jump on the Go Pro band wagon. Every time I see them all think about is the scene from Zoolander with the tiny cell phones. Think they will make a Red Bull signature version with tiny tree stumps just out of the way of the lens?

I agree, it seemed to my like everyone who lives in the state of utah is automatically issued one, but with the improved quality and lack of the sun blackout option on it, I think im ready to commit

I think image quality wise there isnt a massive deal of difference from what I can see.
The GO Pro has a wider field of view ( 180 ? vs 135deg)
and the Go Pro casing is a bit easier to mount in unusual places using standard supplied mounts......if you can manufacture it yourself, both are open to some 'new' mounting options.
Ive been playing around with bespoke mounts for both the Go Pro and Contour HD..,....and the GP is easier in this respect.

On the plus side...The Contour HD lens can be rotated, allowing it to be mounted on its side.....and its a pretty tough piece of kit......I've given it a fair bit of abuse and its come out shining.


Overall though, all things considered ....HD wise.....I think the GP HD will be the 'winner'

How does either one of them perform in low light ? Not all of us have the luxury of doing mostly daylight jumps :(

No good in low light. My CX 100 also sucks in low light. I was looking around the web and dont see anything that works in the dark anymore. I might be dating myself here but the best I have seen for night shooting is the VX2000. Full color in total darkness not the green night shot shit. Mr. vid666, do you even jump anymore? Have you been beating on some of those B's?

yeah, that has been my experience as well, all the new shit is small and awesome with bright sunlight, but is useless at night.

as a matter of fact I do still jump, and I have been beating on some of the Bs :)

Neither perform well at night.
At early dawn and late dusk...you might see a bit of extra 'noise' / pixelation....but theres no hiding from it....they dont perform well without ambient light.

Unless of course you mod them with a some external lights !
But that of course negates their benefits as a lightweight/mount anywhere performer.

Still say....you can't beat a ol' Sony PC9 with nightshot for 'compact' nil light recording...

Im fixin on heading up that way to beat on the BB!

I have an external IR light that mounts to the Hot Shoe that extends the night vision to about 100 feet. It works pretty well. It also has a flood light built into it that works awesome with the night vision. Not very stealthy tho. We call it the falling star when I break it out.

Here's some info on the HD GoPro. I should be receiving my units soon. Hopefully I can bring some to BD to sell. See ya there.

sony cx6 has night shot which works pretty ok :)
