1,500 ft?
Is that enough for a decent jump?

Re: [japtoon33] 1,500 ft?
How about 900 ft?
Shortcut
Re: [japtoon33] 1,500 ft?
Yes, yes, and yes 300 ft is enough before you ask. I did a lot of my early jumps from A in that range. But I also learned and studied enough to build my own base rig before I made my first jump. How's your sewing?

Can you tell I'm bord waiting for news on the body?

1.fill out your profile
2. Read the artilcles and do searches for remaining q's
3. Go skydive for a few more years
4. Repeat and then come back with questions.

1. I don't like profiles.

2. Ok, will do. Thanks.

3. Technically, I've been jumping for years. I've just never known any base jumpers because there are none in my area.

4. Why? This is a forum, right? I learned the answer. If you don't like my posts don't read them.

japtoon33, I am fairly certain two of your relatives post here.

Tizzy-hizzy-Nizzy - probably your mom, aunt or another close blood relation.

Sangi, most likely our brother.

If you can't handle a simple profile here, resume' if you will, then you are asking us to share and you will not. A new jumper comes to town and you look at their profile to get a little insight on the past of the person. I don't care about birthdays and other shit, just jump numbers and pertanent jumping info. Time in sport, gear, etc. It's not facespacester.

Not only am I new to base jumping, I'm also new to forums. I'm not a computer person. I got online to find out about these things and apparently I picked the wrong venue. My mistake.

I'm just a bored former skydiver in Atlanta. I don't fit in with the crowds at the DZ. I'm not a people person. I rock climb, ride dirt bikes and motorcycles. I have a lot of time right now and I'm just looking for something new and exciting.

You'd probable fit in rather well. You might really enjoy base jumping. You have to start by understanding that the rig on your back is only one facit of what makes you a base jumper. in point of fact it's one of the least important issues. What really matters is what's inbetween your ears. It's what goes on in there that really keeps you alive. I mean that on several diffrent levels. In the end you'll wind up accumulating a wide veriety of skills. People here lose patentce with jumpers that wonder in here asking the same inane questions over and over again. Perticuarly when so much effert has been made by many of the people here to provide resorces for you and others to gather this info. If you really want to do this. Start the learning proccess. You'll find many here eager to help and guide you.

You are a troll who has likely never made a skydive. Any experienced skydiver would know that not all skyrigs are created equal and would include details about the rig if he or she was making any effort to illicit a serious response.

However, if I am wrong and you have a rig that is somewhat suitable for BASE, I will be happy to help you jump off something. I'm only a few hours away.

Re: [hikeat] 1,500 ft?
I have a Javelin J-1 with an old discontinued 170 main. I think it's a wildfire or something. Cricket reserve. I haven't jumped in about a year.

In all honesty I wasn't planning on jumping with this rig. I was just curious about the necessary height requirement because I don't want to go out and buy a rig if I'm never going to be able to use it.

Re: [japtoon33] 1,500 ft?
1500 feet is immense by most BASE height standards. If you have no problem opening low, 9 seconds of freefall is definitely do-able.

Don't even consider BASE with a Wildfire, Clipper, or Cricket. I wouldn't skydive with any of the them either.

I pulled down on a front riser on a Wildfire (skydiving) once and the whole nose on that side tucked under. I damn near had to cutaway very low, but luckily got it flying again. I threw it into the bonfire pit that night . . .

BASE is particularly gear intensive. jumpers might know more about gear than some riggers.

so...
how are we supposed to help you build on your gear knowledge when you don't even know what you are jumping?

what do you mean 'might'?

there is no doubt in my head.

When the Administrator of the FAA, Marion Blakey, asked him (Burt Rutan) at dinner one night, “what the FAA could do to help,” Rutan’s reply was, “Absolutely nothing.” He told the audience, “The minute regulation begins, innovation stops.”

You should try my mum if your looking for something fun and exciting..

I also participate in the above activitys, but am quite normal. (apart from trying my mum, i've only been in her once, that was enough for me)
