Yes, I can do a lot of base jumps with a skydiveing rig and I have. At times I've chosen one over my base toys.

No, I have ADD and I prefer to get information from experienced jumpers and I don't happen to know any. As I said, this seemed like a good starting place to connect with people and read base jumping info. I assumed that was one purpose for the existence of this site. I'm basically asking advice on how to start and your telling me to go find out. You tell me to hit "search" but how the hell do you think I found this place??

Admit it, you guys think your better than others because you base jump. You discourage people from doing it because you think you're special and if a lot of others start doing it you won't feel so special.

Right on the Home page is a big headline that says: "What is BASE jumping?" and right below that is a link that says: "Learn More" which will take you to a whole wealth of information on "Getting Into BASE".

Pretty simple, eh?

Relax. Straighten out your panties. We do not coddle. We can be abrasive. Get past that. Your attitude needs a slight bit of humility or you will earn exactly the rep that will take you no where. You are right in asking questions, just do some more research. We don't care if you are ADD, ADHD, or whatever. Earn it.

sorry dude. That area has been abandoned a long time ago. Not much there, nowadays most BASE jumpers prefer Nebraska and surrounding areas. Many more easily attainable objects there...

3. ask members for advice
4. give a huge attitude when you don't get the answers you want

for the open mic and I went up 3rd. The crowd
was still forming so not too many people in the
audience but I got some laughs.

some thoughts...

your questions are really better off in the General Base forum. yes, they are rig related, but they tend to be so freakin basic. if you look at the various links, and choose to read the articles, you can answer most of your questions on your own.

dropzones do a fantastic job of separating money from people. the client can be a functional idiot, but someone will great them, they should make them feel warm and welcome, and they some poor tandem master will keep them healthy.

BASE jumping kills far too many participants. plus, no one runs anything near resembling a dz to extract money. nope. not done. you will get assistance from people acting mostly out of personal generosity. you can strain their goodwill by asking basic questions that have been posted to give people the chance to self-educate. or you can put in work and learn. many BASE sites require work, so now is a great time to develop those skills. if you develop knowledge by reading previously posted material, you generally will receive more serious consideration.

I know of zero Wal-Mart greeters here...

Small correction - I live in Kenya (ex British colony) in EA however in Jan we are going to SA.

Africa is quite a large continent.

can you mentor me? i hear you are an xpirt and have like 6,000 jumps.

I had a wicked dream I was jumping an A with my Nitron and swooping the landings. It was out by a clear cut area and a bunch of loggers were getting off work and I had to hide until they left. Weird.
