Low profile containers for SD jumps?
Hello all!

I'm considering getting myself a low profile container (Hybrid LD+ / Razor) for mainly tracking / ws jumps. But as I like to do occasional bridge / dam / low cliff slider down jumps on trips as well I've been thinking about putting a smaller Troll (like 225) in it. I've seen couple of setups like this and they seem pretty smooth. Does anyone have any experience with Hybrid LD's or Razors in SD environment? I do know that these rigs are built for SU jumps on mind and I do know that there are other rigs better suitable for SD jumps. But my question is that are there any issues on these rigs why you shouldn't do SD jumps with them (given that you have SD suitable canopy in there) and are you better off carrying two rigs around (one for SU only and one all around rig)?

Thanks,
Markus

Might want to check out the Apex Ultralite canopies with dacron lining.

Thanks! Yeah, there are several options for the canopy, I also heard that it is possible to get the Trango with dacron lineset. But at this point I'm mostly interested about comments regarding LD+'s / Razors's suitability to occasional SD jumps.

i pca'd a guy in a razor/trango.
looked good, i don't know what could cause problems on short delays- it's four flaps on a harness as well.

i also never change the floorplate loop on my helium-no problems there too.

Yeah bro,

exactly my thoughts as well. That's why I thought to ask if somebody has come up with something I haven't thought of. :) I also know several people who use the floorplate loop on their Heliums in SD as well, with no problems.

I know it's not that low-profile, but I've jumped my Wingsuit eXtreme slider off for the last 30-40 jumps with no problems at all.
I just use the top flap closing pin location. Where I use the baseplate on wingsuit and other terminal jumps.
Having 1 rig again sucks Frown

Check with the manufacturers you get the countainer from.

Marty at Asylum Designs has the Seven and the Feather you might want to look in to Wink
Some super light-weight gear from a bomber manufacturer!

Hybrid fit regular canopies, like Troll, and Hybrid LD fit low volume canopies, like Trango.

I have several slider up and slider off jumps on my wsxtreme(maybe 30 or 40 each SD & SO).I have used the floorplate since I got it.I had it made very lightweight like a razor.I have had no problems whatsoever, but I do take my slider off and do not tie it down.I went with a Flik/Lite that packs 1 size smaller, and has the smaller 400lb dacron lines on it.My next rig will be a razor-Flik/Lite as well.Hope this helps.

APEX TL with the ultralight.

Can't beat it. The TL just with the FOX LT is low profile. the TL with ultra light fabric will beat the competitors.

well i guess that will depend on personal opinion.
the flik and fox are awesome canopies, in whatever form.
but the tl...i didn't like it too much. neither shape, nor the tl concept.
but hey thats just me.
my ranking would be ld+2 then razor.

I regularly jump wsExtreme (have been doing so for last 300 jumps or so) both SU and SD, no problems what so ever for me as well. I was about to ask this with Jeannoel last weekend in LB but ran out of time (too much fun jumping hard :) ). Anyway, it seems like that nobody has that much of first hand experience on razor/Hybrid LD on SD environment. Of course that isn't that surprising since people using these rigs generally either jump SU only or have 2 rigs. Generally I cannot think any reason why they wouldn't work, it's just like somebody posted, it's a rig with 4 flaps and 2 pins like all other pin rigs. Maybe it's just a question of finding out. :) Thanks for input!
