Hey BASE jumpers. I wanted to credit Jimmy and Marta for all they have done for BASE. Joy and I were with Carl, Phil Smith, etc. when our sport really got going back in the early 80's. I've known Marta since early or mid 80's and she's absolutely fearless, alwys has been. Didn't meet Jimmy till B-Day 04, but was lucky to spend a few nights with them in 08 when we had a meeting with the NPS in Moab. Let me tell you, Jimmy is as cool as Marta, if you can believe that. After a few drinks and talks of our youth, Jimmy reminded me a lot of Johnny Knoxville of "Jackass", who is one of my heroes. I mean that in the highest way given the fact I've been BASE jumping for a long time and have known my share of characters. BASE is a tremendous bond. GREAT THING about Jimmy and Marta is they respect nature. As Carl always believed, we take only memories and leave only footprints. BASE WORLD, we all need to follow this example. Jump where you do no damage. Respect the rights of the land owners as much as you can, and Always Pay Attention to Detail. Joy and I are retired now so we may be showing up from time to time in the next few years in areas where good shit is happening. Who knows, I'll want to join a group for a nice jump myself. I still get horny every couple months for a nice tall tower. After all, what is life without a bit of a rush once and awhile.
Look forward to hear from us if we begin to travel. IF YOU HAVE ANY FUN JUMP EVENTS, WHO KNOWS, WE'RE THINKING ABOUT GETTING AN RV AND SEEING WHAT THE NEW WORLD OF BASE JUMPERS IS ALL ABOUT.

For sure! Uf your RV adventure includes Northern California let me know, you might have to "settle" for a building ;) but who knows!

Marta is my superbabe who teached me to do real base packs. Thank you! You have managed to keep me alive with your advices, and Im sure with those who I shared my knowledge with, also have learned the basic coming from you ;-) I medt Jimmy in KL, he is a cool guy for sure.

Rick and Joy I had the pleasure to meet you both in Norway, enjoy your retirement. Cya at a BASE Race in California one day! Switzerland is next country out now in October, and I see no reason for it should stopp there. You guys have a lot of experience and contacts to build something new, and take the sport a stop further, and still be active in the sport, but in a different way.

I couldn't agree more. I just got back from my FJC with Marta and Jimmy a couple of weeks ago. You couldn't ask for nicer people who put a ton of effort into making us all feel comfortable, both in the "classroom" and at the exit point. Anyway, Cheers to them and let us know as your plans for an adventure unfold.
