Who is Jim Rippy? Sometimes I wonder what is the matter with you people. He is arguably one of the greatest Snowboarers to ever ride. The dudes got big moves named after him. ( Rippey flip Straight back flipping frontside 360 , with a method grab (Jim Rippey).)
Back in the day, He had a Burton board that showed a sick BASE scene from a heli's view. A jumper in FF going HH in done town L.A. On the bottom it had a dude tracking out of a King Air into the sunset. Some one gave me this board because I taught them to BASE. The Ex decided to keep it when we split up. I will miss that board, not worth going back for. Who is Jim Rippey? You people need to sign up for the fucking BFL!

Pretty sure that he's already signed up. Hopefully he's learned some basic safety stuff in the last 5 years.

I still have not heard of him as a snowboarder or a base jumper but it seems he's made some pretty funky jumps.... I guess when he was being all amzing.. doing his rippey flip straight back flipping (Yawn) frontside (ZZZZZ) with a method grab i was still wearing nappys (diapers) ... anyway..... out with the old into the new.

that rippey air really aint very imprssive, i just tubed it, kind of looks lame, i give him a 6 out of 10..

I have that board 158.5. It still sees snow 1 or 2 days a season. I believe the art on the back is more of a head down dive Mike Vail did in Chronicle 3. (I also have that) Its a nice fast board.

Neat video and all, but I sure hope they went back and cleaned up every piece of plastic/metal/whatever debris that was created as the sled tumbled down the mountain. You know, "Leave no trace".

Yep. And I tried to learn from it. Waaaay back then, Shane told me when he asked Rippey about it the guy basically told him to go stick it.

I hadn't actually meant the post to come off as snarky as it does, reading it again. Apologies.

I do think that there is a tendency to hero-worship people who are good at other activities, and assume that they must know all about BASE jumping, too. Unfortunately, when people do that to themselves, they often lead others into unsafe situations.
