Finding a mentor
I did a search and didnt find this topic...I am a skydiver looking into getting into base jumping in the next couple years. I still plan to get more skydiving experience before taking on base jumping but thought it is never too soon to start looking for someone who would be willing to mentor me and teach me the ropes. I would like to get info and experience on the ground and learn more about the sport before I take a FJC in the future. So how does one go about finding a mentor? Thanks.

Re: [hookitt] new mentors in time for xmas
Well I heard an experienced BASE jumper in the midwest
is growing some new ones in his basement but sadly at
the moment they are still in undeveloped 'pod' form.

simple.
learn to skydive, travel to other drop zones. along the way, you will meet people and you will be able to network. be likable and willing to learn. demonstrate ability.

it's best to network and build friendships. this will help attract some one to mentor you.

Go about your business as usual. If you want to base jump and there are jumpers around, you'll meet them. Mentor is an odd title.

I don't mentor anyone but I do pay attention to certain people and how they go about things.
