Re: [hookitt] The W.A.R.D.O.?
I meant Brian made me show it to everyone here on the forums. Tom had already posted his video and I was mostly just curious to see if it had been done before or if I could claim it as my own special brand of stupidity. And what kind of sh*t talking the base board would generate. Also, look at me!
I don't think a twist was put in by the way I set it up. I had that pretty well visualized and that's the reason for the throwing it over the shoulder demo at the beginning. You can see in the video that my canopy was already rotated 90 left when it was over my shoulder before the jump (I'll blame that part on my canopy preppers

) and I think that combined with body position rotating me to the right just swung me around. Definitely doable without the twist, thanks Charley.
And yeah, I'm all for freefall, but being lazy and slamming out a bunch of unpacked jumps at the potato bridge is a hell of a lot of fun, not to mention the utility for low stuff or separation on multi-ways. They really are quite a bit quicker to set up. Of course, this jump doesn't really have much utility outside of bridges and trams and such, but neither does an IROC and it sure was fun.
As for the smart-TARD, if you put increasingly shorter S-folds in your lines as you approach your canopy and let go of everything at once, it works really well. Look at your lines after you let go and they'll just straighten out. You've still got the primary stow to isolate the lines in your canopy until full line stretch. I've seen way more slop in lines from people doing weak McConkey launches. I'm open to argument, but putting the lines in the tailpocket just doesn't seem necessary to me.
