I can also vouch, he's a good guy.

Hey
Stewie, the DZ I work for has
a sister operation in your new town.
Don't know if those guys BASE but
might be worth a visit, good luck!

Re: [Stewie] Monterey Bay, CA
I lived there for 5 years. Moved away 2 years ago, back then I was the only local. The dz mentioned is lacking BASEhumpers, if any. In fact, I jumped there last Sept. and it was still the same........90% tandem factory. Santa Cruz had a crew, not sure if they are still around.

You are better off heading inland to Hollister, Lodi, or Davis. They are a bit of a drive but much more active with BASE-ers.

One good thing about the area is a sweet little S just south of the peninsula. Can be dangerous jumping it alone as there is zero cell reception down there (and CHP will get your arse if not careful). I have loads of jumps off it PM for details.

Good luck.

Re: [Stewie] Monterey Bay, CA
There a few as close as Santa Cruz, some in San Jose, Nd a bunch more as you get into the bay area. Davis and Lodi (where I primarily jump) have more. That little s is sweet, but dangerous. I wouldn't play alone there. Pm me if you want, I'm really busy through mid October. But I may be tempted to head down that way.

Re: [dride] Monterey Bay, CA
There is at least one old schooler doing tandems in Marina (Monterey). He's pretty nutty but his name fits his personality.

As far as skydiving is concerned:

Hollister is fairly close. There's a van ride involved but they place caters to fun jumpers quite well. You may be able to do a load or 2 in Watsonville as well. Don't expect many jumps but popping one off now and then onto the beach could be fun http://www.santacruz-skydiving.com/

If you're looking for a really good freefly scene, it's currently in Lodi. There are a handful of shit hot flyers in Byron and Davis. Some of the Hollister peeps are definitely up and coming as well. They're a good group of people and are working hard at flying well. If I were in Monterey, I'd probably go to Hollister more often than to the one closer to you.

If you like to do hook turns, go anywhere but lodi. Jump there for the jumps, get your hook turn fix anywhere else.

Good luck

Re: [hookitt] Monterey Bay, CA
Come up to sacramento when you get some time off. Skydive at lodi during the day, and come jump at night. Plenty of stuff, unfortunately im going to SLC for a month starting in two weeks.
