Good LZ in MD
My brother is interested in base, so am I too. We've never jumped out of a plane either and are looking for a LZ in MD where we can meet some people who know their stuff and can give a weekend long lesson in sky diving to get started. We're looking for some good teachers. Know a good place? We live west of Baltimore, but we're willing to drive to meet some good people.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

since you are looking for a place to learn how to skydive, you might try our sister site, http://dropzone.com.

or consider http://USPA.org

if you want to consider BASE, feel free to lurk and read the articles. jumpers have posted tons of advice and recommendations. there is great guidance as you begin the journey. the key is to develop sound fundamental. don't be in a rush to BASE. it too often leads to tragedy.

All I know you as is some guy on the internet, but....

Maybe since I came to baseumper.com I was looking for an actual recommendation, not some jackass' response.... ?

I can use google, plenty well; I was hoping for an actual tip. I 'm sure there are plenty of LZs out there just waiting to take my money. Cheers for those with real tips.

I'm not sure you received REAL tips. most people respond to these requests by telling you where they jump. they might have all of 10 jumps and never jumped elsewhere, but they have an opinion...

(sure, these people probably have plenty of jumps. it still does NOT mean the dz is a good fit for YOUR personality.)

normally, someone will ask for recommendations on a rig or parachute. people will happily tell you what they are jumping, even if they have never jumped anything else...

anyway, this has zero to do with BASE. I'm moving it to the Hangout.

WOW, That new thing called google works pretty good. Took me .5 seconds......... Im gonna try it a bit more often.

OFY

What's funny is that you pretty much proved the OP's point for him by recommending 2 skyride sites that aren't even for real dropzones.

To the OP, Skydive Delmarva is a real dropzone with a good AFF program and a few active BASE jumpers and would be my recommendation. I work for them so I'm biased. You should also check out Skydive Orange and Skydive Chambersburg.

The rest of us... isn't really the rest of us. It's a select few that won't offer a point of direction.

Nice effort on your part but your point to look shit up is exactly why a real skydiver should help out. You should edit your posts and remove the links since absolutely nothing will come from doing business through them.

It's "DZ" not "LZ"

haha can someone tell me again why people get so pissed when a newbie posts on how to get into base?

if your argument is that it wastes your time, then wouldnt writing the response waste even more of your time?

md crew is a bunch of good dudes...very forgiving Cool

He asked for a tip, I gave him one, or two.

Besides, its not in my nature to get pissed.

I asked for some advise from a MD jumper when I wanted to start BASE, I was told to learn how to skydive first, and "read" and learn as much as you can.
