Installing toggles
Hey ! I just got my canopy today and decided to install the canopy on the risers while my mentor is on vacations. Anyway, I just can't figure out how to install my toggles. They seem to be an old type with only one grommet and a metal pin. I believe the standard toggles are just like the ones used in skydiving (the grommet goes through the two layers of material) Here's a picture so can you see what I mean. Do you set up those toggles just like the new ones ?

Re: [matc] Installing toggles
do your toggles match your risers?
is there a female half to that pin on the riser?

if not you could cut that pin off.

they attach the exact same as your skyjump rig.

get your advice in person.

Re: [matc] Installing toggles
they're toggles dude. seriously, wtf?

if you really don't understand how they work, use the manual. it's not rocket science.

Yes the toggles match the risers (female half fot the pin) I know I can attach them the same as a regular skydiving but then the brake line will be squeezed between the two velcro once the brakes are set. I know because I tried it. As for the manual, I don't have one. Here's a pic comparing my toggle to the apex toggle. Anyway thanks for your help !

Btw, I'm not talking about the pin...I'm talking about the grommet look at the last picture and you'll see what I mean

Re: [matc] Installing toggles
This is similar to the toggles that used to be on the Vertigo gear, Syko I think they were called? - If you play around with it you will work out how to do it. Search this forum as this issue has been posted before.

Re: [Parky1] Installing toggles
Thanks for the links but they do not talk about my older toggles, only the new ones. Anyway, my rigger has exactly the same toggles as mine so I'm gonna check with him. They were made by vertigo in the time so they don't exist anymore. That's why I can't find any online manuals about those toggles

As I previously posted in this thread - use the search facility, its easy:

Nah, zip ties and duct tape.

Re: [GreenMachine] Installing toggles
Nevermind, my rigger showed me how to hook them up. Slightly different than your standard toggles. As for all the links posted, none of them explained how to install them and I did make a search before creating this thread. Now I'm gone bye !

Cool, glad you got sorted out.

So to help the next guy or gal out
wanna explain and/or post photos
of how the problem was solved?

I agree with this. I want to see how they actually worked.

Re: [Kiki32] Installing toggles
Well, you start by feeding the brake loop through the grommet as usual, then you pass the end of the toggle through that brake line loop (so far, it's just like a standard toggle) but then you need to insert the other end of the toggle (the end with the metal pin and the stiffened part) through the brake loop and you're done. I don't know if it makes sense to you ? English is not my first language so it's hard to explain !

btw, those pins toggles are a real pain in the ass when doing the brakes ! There are two separate toggle keepers on the risers, one of the metal pin and the other one for the big one (I don't know how you call it) so you need some dexterity to pack !

Re: [spu] Installing toggles
Yep exactly the same design ! Except mines have a metal pin and the grommet is on top instead of on the bottom like yours. Other than that, I used the same method.
