Break question... feel like an idiot for asking this..
so I`m out in vancouver.. and I did a solo jump off a bridge at 3am and when I was putting my shit in my stash bag I just slammed it in there and took off..

So I was packing my gear last night and everything was looking perfect (I follow the packing dvd every time I pack cause I only have like 25-30 base jumps)

I had it all laid out and then I went to check my brake lines to make sure everything was symmetrical and I noticed that my lines looked different on each side, where the cascades connected to the brakes. even though there wasnt any line twists or any shit looking inside-out. I had never checked this before because you dont have to when you skydive..... Maybe I had been jumping this all along

I have really low skydives also (250), but I know from my last mal when you get that feeling in the back of your head to ask someone.

any help would be appreciated

If i get the jist of what you're saying then your toggle flipped through the top ofthe cascade on your brake line.

I hold my canopy up (well the tail where the brakes connect) and work my way back... then figure out where you need to flip the toggle through.

Different, one was worn and one was not?
Different, one side was a foot and a half longer than the other?
Different, one side had a different aura?

Jumping -- skydiving or BASE -- is made possible by the gear. Whether you're packing it or jumping it, you need to be aware of it in both cases. That you noticed something this time around is good. That you're not at all certain it wasn't there last time is bad.

stow your breaks on the velcro right away when you land, and daisy chain the lines if you have the time... this helps me keep everything straight, especially if you're jumping slider off. Also, get in the habit of performing a full gear check every single time you pack. no second chances in base, better to take the extra few minuted and be certain.

yeah, I know.. .I just stashed and ran.. I have been told the same thing. to stow breaks on landing but I wasnt thinking about that... now the best idea I have is to have someone come over and look it over .

thanks dudes I appreciate it!

After 250 SKY and 30 BASE you should
be more than competent to perform a
full line continuity check on your own.

Make sure each line goes directly from
the rapide link to the canopy, without
any twisting or crossing.

If you are using a DVD to pack I assume
you are also using clamps, just clamp the
line groups and check one at a time.

Of course an easy way to check things is
hang the canopy up then the picture will
be very clear.

Good luck and congrats on the jump! Smile

I dont use clamps... I never have.
I did the 4 line check and it was perfect...
just the fucking breaks... I`m going to go at it again tonight...

I'am probably just tripping myself out.

Without question

just take the outside cascade at each corner ...
1) Free your toggle from its velcro, gromets etc,
2) Just take the outside cascade at each rear corner of the canopy, and keep it flat between your fingers, all the way to the cascade,
3) Doing so, untwist whatever you find to make the junction cascade look flat, even and neat.
Easy ?

Then :
1) Route the brakes where they should,
2) Start to pack,
3) Set the brakes,
4) Finish to pack.
Easy

Have good ones

Simplest way is to work from the canopy to the Rig/Toggles for all entanglements.

How to untangle brake lines that have passed through the cascade:
a. Take the outside line and the one adjacent at the trailing edge.
b. Keep them separated and walk it down to the cascade. keep it in one hand and do not release the continuity between these 2 lines and the canopy.
c. Maneuver the lowerline through the cascade to make it (the 2 lines) right and the rest will follow.
Take care,
