Look around for quarrys. They rock! Just use your skydiving rig with the bag off.

Re: [broken916] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
welcome to the site.

if your serious about BASE jumping, then realize there exists virtually no one paid to assist you. DZ's do it, but they have a profit motive.

if someone helps you in BASE, it is generally out of kindness. they are going out of their way to assist you.

help them help you by learning as much as you can on your own. start by lurking the forums. read. visit the "Articles" section. it contains several pieces offering advice. read. try to implement the advice by learning about gear. do drills. etc.

people are more likely to put in effort with you, if YOU are seen as making an effort.

WARNING:
some users treat newbies rather roughly. it occurs when the newbie acts like they expect to be spoon fed.

Re: [broken916] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
worthwhile people from California don't call California Cali. get your shit together and call us back after a few (hundred maybe) more skydives or a convincing argument that your not going to kill yourself unintentionally or not.

Re: [avenfoto] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
i said i was a noob. and yes im from california (broken916... 916 being the sacramento area code)

i ask cuz after reading about some of the chutes like the fox i see the 280, 285 ect and i dont understand the sizing most say 200lbs thats why.. i just joined today and i read alot.

i understand the dangers, the first thing i did was read all the fatality's listed on the link from this site, to make sure i still have the desire to do this.. i do.. i see that even the most expirianced person can get caught up in a unforseen incedent or even a simple "pin overlook"

i want to enjoy this sport, i have raced for many years. but that is a controlled enviroment. the rush and just beeing free controlling your destiny.
i do not wish to be spoon fed or turned around and kicked out the door. just a little guidlines. thank you

Really ? Then why name a thread in all caps "NOOB NEED ADVICE.." ?

I suggest talking to Sangi or base75. They both have lots of things to say.

Re: [broken916] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
You might wanna concentrate on canopy skills in your skydiving for a while. Do this sorta stuff: http://asylumbase.com/...ations/fjccanopy.pdf

You will also probably wanna reconsider the 20 jump number too, but thats up to you.

Re: [avenfoto] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
In tha States do you get those guys that accost you in the street and give you some bullshit story about their car being out of fuel and they just need 20 bucks to get to some or other spot. You can spot them a mile away.

What's a "pin overlook"? Now I'm scared, I haven't been checking for overlooked pins... maybe i've been jumping pin overlooked the whole time... i better call sangi.

Re: [broken916] NOOB NEED ADVICE..
Go do more research and then come back and post under a new name and ask relevant questions. Otherwise you just look like a midlife crisis looking for a solution. Use a spell checker too. Slop in one area of one's life tends to propagate to other areas (460). There is not so much room for slop in BASE because one is in the vicinity of the edge. I could not give you better advice.

Good God BOOB, your not far from one of the most popular BASEhumping sites in the Western US of A. And there are only, what maybe 3 dozen + active BASEhumpers at 3 or 4 major dz's around your area. You couldn't locate one and ask these Q's to a real live person?

Here's my advice BOOB: grow some fuckin' nuts, stop hiding behind your computer screne and make yourself active within the REAL community. Nor-Cal has endless options, you lazy ass.

You should get a valved Flik 293 with composite top skin, black lines, black outer cells, and royal center cell + stabilizers. A 354 would be better for you but that's not too important. An Apex DP container in black with royal blue sides, harness, and trim would be ideal.

Please PM now with your next of kin's contact information and later if you merely need cash to cover your hospital expenses.

I've gotten a bit fat since
1) Breaking myself so I couldn't exercise heavily for months
2) Working at a stressful job and drinking too much beer to compensate
and would like suitable sized gear in my colors without paying retail.

Thanks in advance!

An aff student of mine was taller by 5 inches and lied about his weight so he weighed about the same. His swoop landing was pretty impressive on a 265 Navigator.

He's now got a whole bunch of skydives and no interest in BASE.

Re: New forum
if people are serious about a New Forum, I'd suggest they create a thread in the "Suggestions and Feedback" area. that would ensure the powers-that-be see it.

but this is why I'm not convinced we need a new forum. if regular users here don't read the rules, don't post threads under the proper forum, etc., can we expect the newbies to do it? heck, we struggle to get them to read anything before they post.

Re: [wwarped] New forum
I think, that in order to register and post, you should be required to read through all the "Getting Into BASE" type information on the site and then have to check a box saying you have read and understood the information and pledge not to make stupid and inane posts. Kind of like a BASE EULA...
