I was having a look at to the application paper of KL event, and tried to calculate the expenses.
But i am kind a confused about the accomodation part.
It says;
Full Tour
The entry fee for Malaysia Tour is RM 1800
(This will be payable to Menara Kuala Lumpur at Sarawak during event briefing)
You are entitle:
a.Free 3 star and above accommodation ( Hotel decided by KL Tower )
b.
c.
....

Then in accomodation section it is said that;

Full Tour
Menara KL will be arranging and booking accommodation for the event. Please advise your flight details.
Let us know if you want a room to yourself or if you want to share a room with another jumper. Sharing a room will half your accommodation costs.


So the point i am confused is, after paying the entry fee which says participants will be entitle to have a hotel room 3 stars or more.Then it is said that you have to pay for your accomodation.was it meant to book the accomodations of the hotels not the rates? or i am getting it wrong.

So if someone can clarify this for me i will apperiacte.
Also if anyone has some approximate total cost of joining this event( Full Tour,Join at Peninsular of Malaysia and Joint at KL Tower), i would like to hear about it.

I too was confused by that. I emailed Idros about it, and this was his response:

No shit! I asked about this a while back and was told that you had to pay for your own hotels, that's the only reason I decided against it, didn't have enough funding for that. 1800 was like $700 I think and if that covered the lodging for the three weeks as well that would be a hell of a deal.

Go expecting to pay for everything and not getting a single jump. That way when things work out better, you're happy

I agree this is very good advice.

While I have no reason to doubt the offer from Menara KL is legitimate, on several occasions I have been left having to pay large sums of money at the last minute for accommodation and flights that Menara KL were supposed to pay for.
Sometimes checking out of a hotel I have suddenly been informed that Menara KL’s credit is no longer any good and that I would have to pay for it myself. Similar thing with some flights that Menara KL has organised. I have arrived at the airports on a few occasions and then told by the airline that I would have to purchase another flight on the spot because Menara KL’s payment has not gone through. Menara KL always promise to reimburse the amounts but never deliver.

I believe they do have some money from sponsors this year, so unless they waste it all (or use it to pay outstanding bills), they should be able to fulfil the commitment they make to BASE jumpers. You do have to be prepared for what they have a habit of doing though.

I also heard from non Menara KL sources a couple of days ago that Menara KL will no longer have their event at Sarawak and Sabah this year. If you were intending on going to these locations you should confirm this directly with Menara KL.

Just spoke to Idros on the phone:

Sabah and Sarawak are not included in the KL Tour 2009 event. Here is the updated schedule he provided.

3-4 Oct: Bangunan Teruntung, Kuantan, Pahang (26 floors).

6-7 Oct: Felda Residence Hotel, Kuala Terengganu (19 floors)

9-11 Oct: Menara Taming Sari, Melaka

14-16 Oct: Menara Alor Star, Alor Star, Kedah

17-18 Oct: Menara Komtar, Penang

20-25 Oct: Menara Kuala Lumpur, KL

The 2 new buildings on the list have never been jumped yet and they plan to check it out first week of August. I do not have the details of these buildings. There is a picture of the hotel that i found here http://www.plantationresorts.com.my/Teren/index_teren.shtml. Couldn't find anything on the other building though.

According to Idros, full accommodation and food is provided for those that have registered for the full tour. Transportation to all the above sites are by bus. For those that are only attending the KL tower jump, your on your own.

Will keep you posted if anything changes. Will be jumping menara alor star this weekend.

I got an answer from Idros this morning, it seems that Melaka event has been cancelled ?
Is that right ?

How can we arrange the transport to go from KL to Kuantan, Pahang ?

Are you organizing a bus from Kuantan, Pahang to Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu ??


I registered for the full tour around 2 months ago, but I am a bit afraid about organization.

I had already booked 2 flights for Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, and won't be able to use them if I wanna do the full tour.

It would be great to have information fast enough to be able to organize the trip.

Can you please give us the latest schedule ??

Idros must have been drunk or on crack. Just confirmed today with organizers that Melaka event is still on.



All transportation is provided by KL Tower (Organizers) to all the sites. The bus ride will start from KL.


I am NOT organizing anything. KL Tower (Organizer) is providing bus ride from KL to all sites and back to KL.

Sorry dude, nothing will be done regarding it. You will have to just try to change the tickets to KL. KL Tower (Organizers) will not cover this part.

Looking at the latest schedule Hizam posted, there is something wrong with either the KL Tower dates that are listed or the days that are listed.

I would also question if Menara KL really have secured Menara TM for this event. Menara TM (aka Shark Fin building) is one of the 4 locations that rejected Menara KL this year. While it is possible they have regained permission to jump at Menara TM I don’t think it has happened.

It is terrible to see that some BASE jumpers have booked flights to some locations on the belief that Menara KL’s schedule was legitimate.

Our small event in Sibu is solid . This will be held on October 31st after the KL Tower event. The people of Sibu are very excited to have us there. I have updated the website www.basejumpingdisplays.com with some pictures and newspaper articles from the trial jumps that were done a couple of weeks ago. We still have slots available for anyone interested. Menara KL has no involvement in the Sibu event.
