Ha ha ha

I was on the way home from the DZ
hence I had my camera kit with me
and happened to have a friend who
rode along and did a tandem.

Honestly, about 25% of my jumps
have had either photos or video.

I love seeing and reading about other
people's adventures, hence I share
mine.

ever jump at night?

Re: [doinker] Dumped Canopy
Yes, about 10% of the time.

Yeah but Toronto is a real city Wink

The little towns around Tallahassee
are basically the sticks so there are
very few people around and when an
occasional redneck wanders by they
usually have an open beer & dig it.

Please note that 51 of my 84 jumps
are from the Perrine and Bridge Days.
So 25% of my bandit jumps are night.

No. How did it happen? With that large platform up top, would you have been able to close the rig again?

Re: [hookitt] Dumped Canopy
Evidently not.

Stepped on the bridle. Blush Unsure

would you have been able to close the rig again?

Yeah I could have taken the laces out of one of
my boots and used it to re-close the container
but decided to do the Smart TARD because:
1) It would be my first unpacked from an A
2) The LZ is really small so the tiny bit of
extra canopy time could help me set up.

What's with the car driving the road as you are landing ?

My Pro comes with a small pouch (on the inside portion of chest harness), were I always carry a spare closing loop, pull up cord and maybe a tail gate with rubber band. Is this pretty universal on all rigs?

Re: [six8fbird] Dumped Canopy
It is. I would carry a pull up, closing loop, and small red LED in mine to help sort out premi openings in the dark....

Very smart, thanks for the tip.

One thing to think about with passer bys, is that although it might be ok to jump things in daylight, not everyone wants to see a body in freefall.... it upsets and scares some people, and I would say that apart from burning objects, this is also why night jumps are advisable.

I would say quite a few objects are doable during the day, but most will choose to do them at night just incase the dog walker coming past sees something that scares them. Its not fair on them.

hahahahaha!
"really small landing zone"
funny to watch your quest for attention and to win recognition.
thank god it was a "smart" tard.
anything else would be quite foolish....makes up for not even carrying a fucking pull up cord.
please continue.
congrats.

Re: [epibase] Dumped Canopy
i've had a canopy dump on my around 600 feet on an guyed antenna with moderate winds. I clipped in using a quick draw from the chest strap to the ladder. I then pulled the canopy in put it into my stash bag and climbed down. I replaced the velcro on my rig after that jump.

One thing about experience is, your definition of small landing zone will probably change over the years. At least in the few photos, that one doesn't appear to be too dodgy. I vowed never to jump a certain building again due to the absurd landing zone. Later on, when I went back to it , the landing zone was actually quite good with decent outs.

I don't know about your rig but if completely necessary, I can close mine back up without a pull-up cord. I've yet to open mine by accident but definitely know a few people who have. Good times.

Re: [GreenMachine] Dumped Canopy
Smilemr.green,
you may need to learn how to "massage" your packjob?
depending on your exact packjob. Which in time will get neater and evolve as well!

but having proper pin tension on top and bottom is a definet must when climbing Sticks!

also having all the light weight necessitys (closing pin(s),pull up cord, tiny as fuck flash light, etc) as well.

Gargoyles are great containers so this shouldnt the gargoyles fault!

So learn how to massage your pack job after closing so you can have a "happy ending"!

and thanks for sharing and not being embarassed of your follies!

Thank you for the positive reply! Smile

Yeah I make minor fuck ups often,
but 84 jumps, 12 objects, and zero
busts or serious injury... so far.

I appreciate the many great tips I
learn from the experienced guys and
gals on this forum, thank you all much.
