Which PC at terminal speed ? (8+, WINGSUIT OR TRACKSUIT, average canopy size)
Hi ! This question has often been asked, but it would be nice to collect answers in a poll, in order to access them quickly, and to see what is the most common habit regarding terminal PC's

So, which PC do you use at terminal with a WINSUIT or TRACKING SUIT ? (considering you jump an "average" canopy size around 240-260)

I'd use the same PC with a tracking suit that I would with no suit. For a wingsuit, I'd use a larger PC for two reasons: 1) Significant difference in deployment speed; 2) Larger burble.

Your poll is faulted. Big mesh vs small mesh, block vs bias construction (there is the possibility that some riggers are doing the dreaded block construction and their (PC's)are in circulation). Although the 30% difference in volume in same size PC's could be negated in a poll if many took part.
I use a big mesh 32" and a small mesh 36" for terminal.
42" aint so bad either. Done that to.
Take care,

Also left out ZP or F111.

I use a Toxic 36 type 6 big mesh all ZP with tracking suit jumps from 7 seconds to 35 seconds...i like the bigger PC to help pull my BlackJack 260 out fast

IMHO go w the smallest PC which your head can accept. My most used PC is 32 and 34 In general the PC sizes are to big for given purpose. To big PC will not only provide to high stretch force , it is also major cause of many line over as well ( most of them jumper never really notice as it clear by itself )

Smaller PC opens faster
Small mesh is pointless and does not effect speed of canopy opening, it effect the speed of the PC opening in negative way.

Im assuming your using BIG Mesh.

also, what siZe of canopy are you using??

what tYpe of canopy are you using??

smaller canopies made of these newer lighter weight material
may be ok. But regular and bigger canopies may need some more PC powwer/size to quickly pull the canopy out???

maybe im wrong? what do you thinkk???

:) Bigger is not always better. To big PC simply providing to high , to violent snatch force which than taking the pack job out of container through the bridle , but so that only one part really following the PC- center of the canopy, while all other part of canopy stays behind.
Imagine how that looks?! After the line stretch the ends are down and loose , dancing around..

Have you ever try to jump the 38 with 250 canopy from 100m?! Did you ever notice any difference?!
Jump 32 or 30 terminal with 250 or 265 size canopy... any difference ?! Yes it is ! It is not slower opening, it is much nicer and cleaner opening

I use 265 osp and 245 trango canopies now. before i was with same sizes Troll canopies. I have had same rule for PC sizing.

Of course it is not the same if you using the small size canopy or big size canopy. However, the two sizes mostly used in BASE are 245 or 265. or similar Difference between them are very little.
In case you have some sort of advert on it ( logo) canopy is heavier for sure, while just basic 245 vs 265 the weight difference is minimal.

As long as we're asking questions, what size do you consider a bigger canopy to be ?

I just thought of something!

are you meaning the measurement of the PC "After" manufacture????

because my "36" Asylum PC measures out at around 33".

and my apex "38" is the same size as well.

which basically put the PC's in between the size's you said(32"-34")?!?!

I still dont get why the manufactures do this??

all their sizeing methods are all different! this has been brought up before and hasnt changed so....

The poll is pointless and the results could be misleading to people who are looking for answers on this. Anyone who actually needs this info should ignore the poll and heed Bobi's advice above (I didn't vote and so did not see the results).

There are far too many variables in wingsuit / tracksuit speeds, canopy size, and even differences between specific wingsuits to have a poll answer.

Some jumpers wingsuit with a 32" and it's perfect, others need a 42" due to extremely low sink rate and moderate forward speed (such as with the new generation of Tonysuits).
