Do low profile rigs (razor/hybrid) have to be ParaPak??? Why not. Cordura?
it is possible? Right?  So why not?

Im mainly asking for reasons of durability.

my understanding is that the ultra lightweight rigs were originally introduced for those on long hikes. thus the need to shave off an ounce here, an ounce there.

ParaPak is simply lighter than Cordura...

ParaPak is also a lot smoother & shiny, therefire I would think its more aerodynamic also.

have you asked any of the manufacturers?

Hybrid LD2 standard is made from parapack, except for the 2 lateral flaps, which come in cordura. it can be also made from parapack on request.
I found many advantages to make it like that for this rig. Weight is not different (ok just few gramms Smile), as only the outside part of the lateral flaps are made in cordura.
for aerodynamics : Even if parapack is better than cordura for that, we don't feel any difference in flight. VKB's windtunnel tests of the Hybrid (2006) were made with a rig made of cordura, and it was successfull.

what have you found to be the advantage(s)? i believe you, im just curious as to what the advantages are vs. the durability of cordura?

thanks in advance! Smile

BASE1313 has a helium in parapack and one in cordora.

Marty at asylum made mine with a little of both. Seems that the more high wear areas are cordura with the less being parapack.

I went with the cordura on my second helium simply because it stands up to the abuse of climbing towers a little better than the parapak... I haven't noticed any flight differences (or any at all for that matter) between the two.

is this some new container/harness that asylum is doing for the "Feather" Or something You had made up?

MADE up for the "feather"? OR?
either way can you share? the configuration of the placement of parapak and cordura? and Why etc.?

thanksSmile

i mean making the rig with cordura lateral flaps. this works the best for me on this rig, in relation with the design of the rig. (so i will not list it here Wink)
If you don't come to jump in our area, I will be at WBR with a demo if you want to try.
