Alternative to stash bag needed
I have a jump planned in a few weeks time and I need an alternative to a stash bag.

Its for a jump which involves a long hike. The cable car man will not let you on if he spots a stash bag.

Any ideas?

It needs to be suitable for a long hike, compactable at the top of the mountain. A briefcase might not be so handy.

I think it's that one.

Tom Dancs really likes them for long hikes and he does a good amount of those.

I use this one. A Perigee Pro with BlackJack 260, Phantom Wingsuit and helmet. It has removable back support so you can wear it down with you under wingsuit. It is super light and not BASE obvious. I took my rig with ws down to the outdoor sports store and just tried different models until I found this. I had a lot of help by 3 or 4 different employees who were more than interested. Stealthy.

what exactly does that mean? i have an idea?

on a second note: ive been using the Apex backccountry back pack.
its very, very Low bulk. No padding at all.

that bein said i like the two packs frlm this thread! i think i like the "Dancs" one better because its lighter and hey every bit of weight or should i say lack there of on a long back country type hike Counts!

any pictures of the back removal deal??!

is there a pocket dealio for a Platapuss or Camelback?

also how much if any padding?/extra bulk?

when putting Wingsuit on does padding from straps get in the way? do you where on your back on the way down or do you wear on the chest area-AKA:"Backwards" before "Zip up"?

yeah i know epic quetionare!!! sorry!

Re: [PAINTitBLACK] Alternative to stash bag needed
The one I have is what I could get on a VERY short term mission. However, I really love this pack for other things, like hiking, a ton. The back support is some semi-rigid plastic with two aluminum (I think) support beams (they are actually flat). This has an ergonomic shape to it. On the fabric side of things there is a pock on the inside, necklevel against the back. the plastic slides in and is held there with velcro. The difference in weight is almost nothing. I still laugh a little when I pick it up. I only use the back support for 2-4 day hikes. Never for BASE or most other applications. (too lazy to put it back in)

Geez, why did you say that? Now they know we know they come here. It was bad enough that the OP let them in on the secret that we might use backpacks!

I have this one.

It has better features and is cheaper than the Go-lite. Plus chicks dig Mountain Hardwear.

No way Stich,

Chicks much prefer GoLite packs these days. :)

Both are great packs, but the GoLite is 1lbs 8 oz (when you remove the foam back pad). The MH pack is 2lbs 3 oz.

Not a huge dif (~11oz), but every ounce counts...

I went to wal mart and found a light bag for 30. then i cut a few things off it and its great. i wear it under a wingsuit with a hoodie on as well and its fine. also makes you look like a LL bean day tripper

You can remove the top pocket, framesheet, and change the hipbelt over to a webbelt bringing the Super-Scrambler down to to 1.1lb.. Of course the Tactical Bacon adds 0.5 lbs.

Re: [cloudtramp] Alternative to stash bag needed
My new GoLite Pinnacle just arrived and it looks pretty good to be honest. It has a removable foam back liner which reduces the bulk considerably, but I need to reduce it more. Has anyone done a similar job on this backpack?

If so, did you remove foam from waist band or shoulder straps?

I have to be able to fit this underneath a wingsuit.

Some ultra lights, no experience with them though?
