I just watched some program on national geographic where workers were changing top of 2000foot antenna, looked like a hard, but very cool job. They also mentioned it being the riskiest job in USA with around 20-30 fatalities a year...
Stupid Crab Fisherman tricked me into thinking they were doing the most dangerous job...
Up until about 2-3 years ago, OSHA grouped tower workers in the general field of 'Construction'. When they broke it off as its own occupation, they found that it had something like 112 deaths per 100,000 participants per year.. the previous most dangerous job was Logging, which had something like 92 deaths per 100,000. The sample group is pretty small, though, as there are only something like 3,000 tower workers actively employed in the US.
Crab Fishermen might also be grouped in the general 'Offshore Fishing' category, and hence not directly compared to tower workers.
