Atair OSP
for anyone that's been jumping one of these canopies for a while now, i'd love to hear some reviews and comparisons. i've been very curious since their birth, but have not had a chance to see or jump one yet.

any real world experience and thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

thanks! Smile

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
Got 23 jumps on mine. Fantastic to fly, especially in deep brakes. Low openings are great and heading performance is similar to a Troll... which I find pretty good :-)

2 Jumps from terminal with no issues, opening very similar to my Troll of the same size. Absolutely no regrets with buying this canopy.

Niggles - Slightly more awkward to pack due to stabilisers and zp nose (but really no big deal).

I have had occasional end cell closure - this hasn't affected heading but was difficult to pump out on one occasion - I have never noticed this on the Troll. Again, this is no big deal and these 2 points are the only slight downsides I can find.

I would recommend it to anyone doing mostly low stuff and occasional terminal jumps... But then I only have 100 jumps and have only jumped 2 other canopy designs to compare it too so hopefully someone with more experience will chip in...

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
got about 60 on mine now.
i absolutely love it.didn't like the 2 wingsuit jumps i did with it...better stay subterminal.
freefell it down to 50 meters and low freefall is where it really shines.
responsive(actually the highest toggle pressure i ever experienced), fast and onheading.
i also had the end cell closures, after a talk with stane and adjusting the brakes(a LOT deeper) it went away.
i load my 265 pretty high, little less than 0.8 and still can do stand up landings from super deep braked aproaches with minimal toggle stroke.
it flies slow if you need it to, and at my wingloading at least glides good and flies faster than you'd expect because it's not marketed for good glide and speed.
if you jump ,mainly slider down or in the lala land between 3-5 sec you cannot go wrong with this one.
i so far also only had 1 90° off in my 60 jumps on it.
i'd love to compare it to a 280 flik with 5 vents and hts though...anyone jumped both?

awesome. thanks guys.

i would also love to see some comparisons... i'd really like to see it up against an equally sized black jack for instance.

but, so far, so good.Smile

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
i will have the dinero saved up by august for a brand new canopy, and its either going to be a troll or OSP, and im steering more towards the OSP due to the lack of real big objects in the area. please keep the opinions coming!

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
I recently did some jumps on one and found it to fly great in 3/4 brakes and deeper. Flared from 3/4 brakes on a nil wind day and had a soft stand up landing. Does open fast at terminal and I think 3 second slider offs could be hard. The only thing I could complain about was packing with the extra stabilisers was a little annoying. I will definitely be buying one in the near future but then again I am biased as I have always loved my Troll too.

Re: [Fledgling] Atair OSP
OSP/Genisis will be my next purchase probably closer to the end of the year. I have heard nothing but great reviews on both of these from people that have them. Everything we do here in my area is between 200-400 lots of going hand held.

Have you tried slider up terminal(wingsuit) with max deep brake setting? It might softener the opening Angelic.
I guess it will still open pretty fast, so its not going to effect your on heading performance.
Plus if it works you will have more time to deal with slider up off headings (and line twists, a scary thingPirate).

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
ok, after 3+ years on the market, can we have some more reviews of the OSP ?

I cannot find much info there, and I am seriously considering just biting the bullet and ordering one. So far I got to jump a 245 once, and on a 2 sec delay it was nice and positive opening - but a single jump is not exactly enough data for a comparison :)

anyone ?

also, if anyone has jumped an OSP AND a FOX xs, I would absolutely love to hear their opinion.

Re: [vid666] Atair OSP
I prob have about 80 jumps on my osp245 now.

Love it, love it, love it.

I jump it terminal with no problems whatsoever. I also have 20 wingsuit jumps with it with no issues also.

4 of us all bought them together and we all had to take 4-6 inches off the toggle length. This gave us all a much better flare. I had a few end cell closures in the valley, but after I brought the brakes in, no issues.

On one occasion at a knarly e in England, I messed up a bit and turned super low to land in a carpark, i pretty much swooped it in. I was going in with a too low turn, I planed out in a moment and landed as if I never turned. It settles so quickly! The other jumpers all remarked how stable and settled it looked , considering I had a toggle down about 20ft from the ground. (I was heading towards the cliff) I might have video.

My previous canopy was a troll245. I wouldn't say the osp opened higher, I would say they pressurised at the same height. The osp hasn't opened more objects. I do feel more comfortable with it though, and I had 100 previous jumps on the troll.

At half brakes is really where the osp is fantastic, you can bring it down easily on half brakes, make nice shallow turns and still get a really powerfull flare.

I expected it to have a poor forward drive, but that is not the case. When you have the toggles up, it flies surprisingly fast, and you get good forward drive.

I would reccomend it to anyone as an all round canopy. 5 star.

Re: [vid666] Atair OSP
Oh forgot to say, we looked at getting the fox xs but put off because we were told anything more than a 2 sec ff and you are asking for trouble. Apparently it can surge backwards or something like that, due to the massive vents? I'm not 100% on that tho. I have never jumped one. Only the fox. : )

Re: [Clark282] Atair OSP
Love my OSP, but it's funny cause I have more terminal with it than sub terminal. 15 in Kjerag, few balloons, choppers, hand full slider ups at Bridge Day and a hand full slider down at Perrine. Great in deep breaks as mentioned. Highly recommended.

Re: [blitzkrieg] Atair OSP
Never jumped one so I can't say anything about flight characteristics but there are a few Moab locals jumping them slider off and from what I observe the OSP consistently open faster/higher and seems to be in full flight way sooner than any other canopy on any given load.
