Steering Line hangup
I have had an issue on my past 5 jumps. It was one PCA, and the others were FF’s from 270. For some reason my right cateye is getting hung up on the riser. Let me explain. The canopy opens and I instantly go to clear the toggles. The toggles clear right away, but for some reason ONLY the toggle is clearing on the rightside not the line. From the brief glances I have been able to get while also trying to hook my 180 to land it appears the toggle is coming out of the white loop but the cateye is not and I have been having to make a second yank on the right toggle to clear it after l have already started flying. After the first time it happened I figured I just wasn’t being aggressive enough when clearing the toggles so I have been concentrating on that but it’s still the same issue. I really don’t know what to make of the issue since it is always the right side. I have confirmed multiple times with multiple people that i am in fact stowing my brakes right, so i am at a loss.

Has anyone experienced this pattern before?

Re: [FreeFallFiend] Steering Line hangup
What brand are your risers? The white loop is different on various risers, and on some where it is thicker, I've had the problem you describe. The simple fix (which will take a few days, at least) is to go buy a new set of risers.

The "now" fix is to learn to clear your toggles by pulling them all the way down (past the brake setting) instead of just "popping" them. The downward motion should clear the setting (If it doesn't, go get new risers immediately). This is also useful because it starts you flying in half brakes, so that things are in a slow gear until you decide to speed them up.
