Seeking Fathers of BASE/Old footage for Documentary
Hello, I am working on my grad school project for my MS in documentary film making. I am wanting to do an in depth documentary on the sport of BASE. This is going to be a 2 year project. I am looking for anyone that could be considered a forerunners of the sport (Active in the sport circa 1966-the early 70s). I am also looking for some key people:
-Jean Boenish (BASE No. 3)
-Phil Smith (BASE No. 1 - Living Somewhere in Texas is the latest I could find on him)
-Phil Mayfield (BASE No. 2)
-Michael Pelkey ('66 Jump from El Cap with a round)
-Owen J. Quinn (World Trade Center Jump '75)
-Rick Sylvester (Ski BASE - James Bond: The Spy Who Loved Me)
As far as I know and could find, they are all still alive.
Also, I am looking for any film from skydiving and BASE Jumping from the late 60s to early 80's. I could use film that is in other productions, but I would rather use some personal film for anyone who would be willing to contribute. Any format of film would be awesome.
Finally, if you know of anyone that would be considered a pioneer of a branch of BASE (Ski BASE, Wing suit, Proximity flying, and so on...) that information would be awesome as well.
Anyone can contact me via email: mdgeppelt@gmail.com
Thanks!
