i find that the people making complaints like "their all a bunch of shit-heads" are usually the douche-bag shit-heads themselves.

what you experience will be a reflection of what you present.

you began this thread with blatant site naming. that offends many people. they find it highly counterproductive and think it shows very little respect.

you then follow that up with requests of PROOF. as if jumpers always capture their jumps and want to share them. (for the record I don't jump with a camera, and am rarely impressed by them. I've seen a jumper worry far more about their camera than their rig. I've seen cameras slow down a jump, which may not be practical in less-than-legal situations.)

so you show little respect, but you expect to be shown respect?

It could be possible that your initial post and subsequent responses would deter informative answers from the community.

The way I see it, it's still site naming for two reasons. You're bringing attention to a place that can be used for base jumping, and making a record on the internet of that place. There are a bunch of reasons that both of those are a bad idea and rude to anyone else that might ever want to use that object, hence base ethics.

How about something like, “anyone who has jumped on Vancouver Island please contact me asap, thank you!” There are all of 2 people on the Island with a BASE rig and you are one of them. It is unlikely cliffs out there are getting much action. The community in all of western Canada is pretty freakin small. Why not go and find out? Take a trip do some hiking

Basically you fucked up on something you knew not to do, then when people call you on it everyone else is a shithead. Think about it, when you realize that most people are responding negatively to you do you really think it is actually everyone else with the issues? Really?? You are only going to continue to alienate more jumpers/people with this kind of ill communication.

Now to other points..... BASE jumping is illegal in Canada’s National Parks! You said you have done your research well you obviously have not. I have pasted it in below for you to look at. It doesn’t say BASE jumping it says parachuting etc.

Last point, You said, “if your (should be "you're") not from canada and don't know the law, don't try and quote canadian law to a canadian. .” When did you become a Canadian? Pretty sure you are from Australia no??!

you seem to be missing several key points...

BASE ethics regarding site naming is based on much more than simple legality. if you proved the site was legal, you still should not talk openly about it here.

the site might be used by jumpers who do not come here, or might only view the forums once a week.

if jumpers DO frequent the site, they might not have agreed with your tone. it might have caused offense and and they chose NOT to speak up.

I could go on, but I bet you won't view my thoughts as helpful. heck, they probably don't get you any closer to your immediate goal.

and I still think ignoring such a basic courtesy as "no site naming" is an awful way to introduce yourself.

I KNOW you are VitalEdge! You see, I talk to most of the jumpers in BC on a fairly regular basis and if there was a new jumper in Victoria it wouldn't be a secret. I just met a few of the newish BC jumpers out there in March. I also was at the May Meet boogie and caught up with everyone there just a couple of weeks ago.
This is going from sad but funny to weird. How many voices you got going on in your head at any given time?

As I read through this thread I initially wanted to just say that I know of legal objects that I jump and wouldn't want people to name them on the internet anywhere, and that if someone wants to jump them they can contact a local for the beta, but then I read what seems to be you insinuating a threat on someone's livelihood because of something you heard from a friend and because you are angry about something they said on the internet. You should delete that post man. That's worse than site naming.

They might even have named it; then again they didn't go around calling members of the BASE community names....

I have mixed feelings about this site naming issue. Of course I live in a country where cops are under paid and over worked. They don't need to justify their existence running after overgrown kids like me.
