Re: [pope] tower lighting info
I believe this has been posted and discused before. Lighting and painting is not standard as you think it would be, buyer beware.

good post though, it looks updated

Re: [pope] tower lighting info
The feds want the general public to believe that everything is taken care of, that everything has order and purpose. but in all reality it is nothing but a shit show of bureaucratic old-mans club regulations.

For intents of measuring object height, the paint and lights are essentially random. the paint only changes color to add contrast for purpose of collision avoidance, and the lights could be evenly spaced, or only on top, or missing.

All it takes for a 2000' tower to leave the lights off for 2 months legally is a phone call to create a NOTAM. (anyone who is a pilot might understand the weight of that situation)

Re: [Calvin19] tower lighting info
definitely interesting beta, but I wouldn't trust it for the purpose of determining height. I prefer to look up the registered height and confirm by counting rungs the first time i climb. which incidentally saved my ass once on a low tower. A was registered at 290', but I counted on the way up and topped out at 225' (181 rungs spaced approx 15" measured) at the last exitable point, maybe another 20' of unclimbable apurtenances... I had planned on handheld with a 46, didn't have SL rigging on me, so I climbed down. Always double check on low shit.
