Useful Information
since the board has jumped the shark . . .
(& even b4) there really isn't a lot of useful info here
just ppl trollin', whinin', cryin', talkin' 'bout the good 'ol daze, sitenamin', dayblazin' or tryin' 2 b magGot

not including PM's

this is what i found useful (even though i'll never climb a tower again)

granted, the ability to 'hook up with the locals' is nice

My experience with those ladder cables is that they aren't well attached, and if you lean back on them at all, they will break the black bumper and the cable will come out 2 or more feet from the latter. I didn't weight check it with my body, I held on to the ladder and pushed it out with my arm, and then decided I definitely didn't want to try to use anything connected to it to be able to lean back.

Agreed, don't hang on those cables with your life, especially if you just want to lean back on it and not expect it to pop away from the ladder and make you lose your footing.

On another note, many of those cables were either poorly installed by some hillbilly like me or Hank (or much, much worse), haven't been properly maintained, or for some other reason they aren't something you should hang on as your sole lifeline. A tower worker friend of mine once walked up to a tower and found the cable was a bit loose (pretty common). He gave it a good yank before tying in, and it ripped out at the top and a few hundred feet of cable came whistling down around him. Food for thought Smile

what useful information have you provided?

this is a user site. it is formed by what users choose to post.

thus each user must ask themselves if they contribute to signal, or noise...

Lately - not much. I do see a drastic increase in trolling and low jump skydivers coming here for a a hand-holding on how to get start BASE jumping. And the long and useless banter on topics BASE unrelated by people who don't even jump.

Of course about the most useful thing I have done had been telling Sangi to SFU.

gooman why did you tell me in the other thread to post those 'instructions' on blinc?

sarcasm - i thought that was a great, useful tidbit (until the tower workers said not to trust the cable (also usefulWink))

so i was checkin out my buddies rig - he's a nOOb (irrelevant)
excitor h/c & a bj 260 with wlo toggles

having only seen them breifly (roryj'z) & read about the wlo toggles, online / bj.com / apex, i was checkin them out . . .

i said 'that won't work' - because
how it was hanging on the rig rack, the straight pin was outside of the velcro - unlike the pic on the left (below) - PROPERLY RIGGED

the bottom of the pin (round part) was outside the velcro - MIS-RIGGED
so when the the release was activated (ON THE RIG RACK *although tension was held from above*) pulling down didn't work (ie release)

i haven't red the oners man u l , or have any 'real world/road rules' experience, so i don't no what i'm talkin bout willis

ps drunk in bbl Wink

was that 'useful'?
