opening shock
My husband and I would like to get into base jumping, however he has a herniated disc in his neck that he is worried about. Can anyone shed some light on opening forces. Compared to skydiving. We would be taking the FJC from Marta at Apex (Perrine bridge, pilot chute assist.).

You would most likely progress past PCA. So consider that as well.

Re: [beckyJ] opening shock
As Jake alluded to PCA's and static lines are soft
however, 2 - 3 seconds slider off can be brutal.

Re: [beckyJ] opening shock
What could happen to his neck when he does experience a brutal opening or slams one into a cliff or building, or bumps his head climbing inside an A at zero dark thirty and compresses it even more?

Answer those questions and see if its worth the risk?

Jumping with a bad back is bad enough, I couldn't imagine jumping with a bad neck. ouch.

Re: [gauleyguide] opening shock
I feel that vent tech increases the opening shock by a factor of three!!!!!! Three seconds slider off with vtec mod left me walkin like blue in old school few weeks ago. Thought, even at 450', probably put a slider on next time!!! Sitting body position probably okay, face to earth or head down ...as was the case with 45 kt exit winds, added to the whip of the lash when I "sent it". haha!!!!!!!!!

Come on Chestnut, you're east coast, you leave that "send it" shit to the trendy west coasters! Laugh

Who says send it? When did that shit start? Jump, Flick, Hop, I understand, send it?

Radio Jargan: When someone says "truck1 this is truck2", truck1 says, "2 this is 1, send it". That's the only time I've heard someone say send it.

Actually, I never understood flick either Crazy

Saw it used appropraitely by a gunship commander right before some insurgents were smoked with .50 cal machine gun fire. Now, that's "sending it". Believe some ski basers brought the lingo into this realm.
