Remember... which tape you get depends on F-111 or ZP.

Re: [bodyguard] rip tape
The adhesive used on rip-stop tape is acidic. It will degrade the fabric and the entire area where the tape was used will have to be patched.

The alternative obviously is to use the tape when you are on the road for field repairs and after you get back home get a rigger to do a proper patch on the same spot. It's not like you're spilling toxic waste on it or anything. I've seen canopies with rip stop tape patches on them that are several years old and they look nice and clean and the canopy works like a dream. But if you want to be sure, get a rigger to patch it properly once you get home from a trip.

Remind me to show you my old Interceptor. Prepare to be amazed at the amount of ripstop tape on the stabilizers.

I was just asking a rigger about this on the weekend. I have a few holes in my canopy from a cliff strike I had back in Sept. I was thinking that I could just slap some rip stop tape on there and it would be good to go. This is what we used to do with student canopies at my old dropzone. It was what I was used to.

However, my rigger told me that the adhesive in the tape actually eats nylon. So, you can put some tape on there if you are on a trip or something, but you should have a rigger do a proper patch when you get home. Keep in mind that you have to patch at least an inch around the rip stop tape.

Sorry, that doesn't really answer your question...
