I use deep brakes slider down....
I have always used deep brakes on all jumps slider down...after reading some old posts, and talking with some credible sources I just wanted to see what new school BASE thinks...

I have heard theories that if there is adequate wind on an A...using shallow brakes can outweigh the benefits of deep brakes etc. any thoughts?
thanks in advance,

Re: [FakeBASE] I use deep brakes slider down....
The only times I don't use deep brakes is when I am doing unpacked jumps from objects that I don't care about offheading and need the most canopy time possible. Otherwise I use deep brakes on every slider down.

im stumped. if your deep brakes are dialed and correct for your w/l why would shallow be better?
minus the scenario you have to out fly something i cant think of a reason other than high altitude or nuking tail wind that shallow would be a safer choice. even then ive always packed deeps and been quick if it back surges. if i KNEW the winds would be high id probably use shallow but not as a standard for A's.
are there other reasons im missing?

Re: [livenletfly] I use deep brakes slider down....
I did a few SL jumps down to 150' where i used SB. I used my BJ with ZP nose. I would jump, pop toggles, let the canopy recover under its natural arc and then and nice toppiy toe flare and be farther than the other canopies...

Thought was that there was less surge... I might be off, and was just lucky....
