Canada is a small place and some of it is very close to Twin Falls Idaho. If you can make it to Twin Falls, you'd be able to get your first jumps in at a safe(like) location.

How about you fill in your profile.
What part of Canada do you live in?

Re: [Lonnie] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
Haha, of course, hope that's a little better,

I'm not in Canada, i'm moving next to Winnipeg next month, i hae never base jumped and i'm looking to pick it up. I have around 1500 skydives, and i've heard there are some nice objects in Canada, around that place.

Any ideas?

Mr. Bovine.

A course at the Perrine is your best bet unless you have the right connections there already.

Isn't that in FL?

If don't know where Perrine is, you have not done your homework and you are not ready.

yes, it's that simple.

And I'm guessing he STILL doesn't have "Addicted2BASE" tattooed on his leg yet either. Everyone knows that's the first step followed by finding out where the Perrine might be.

<sigh>
so much about BASE requires dedication and commitment from the jumper. research skills become essential.

after all your research, you fail to know where the Perrine is located? you fail to realize it is the most popular FJC location in North America?

sometimes I wonder why we archive so much information on this site if users choose not to read...

Don't mistake my inabilities to use the internet, and i won't mistake your desire to put out correct information out there as being a pretentious basegod.

I asked a simple question. You had something constructive to say, i further asked about this place, since i couldn't find hits to it online, and you throw this "failed reserach abilities equals this guy isn't prepared"

Please, if you have some knowhow, be productive and share, or simply don't.

Thanks anyways.

Here's Another Joke
After a wonderful night of love making, the young
guy rolled over and was looking around when he
noticed a framed picture of a man on a desk in
the distance. Naturally, the guy began to worry.

"Is that your husband?" he inquired nervously.

"No, silly," she replied, snuggling up to him.

"Your boyfriend then?" he asked.

"No, not at all," she said, nibbling away at his ear.

"Well, who is he then?" demanded the bewildered guy.

Calmly, she answered, "That's me before the surgery."

Do you really think that comment will motivate people to help? Really?

I can point to numerous threads where wannabees come and ask basic questions, and then resent the answers. You have been given sound direction, even if you fail to recognize it.

When dissatisfied newbies complain, they demonstrate a lack of respect for those that tried to help.

Heck, I am trying to help now by teaching you how approach people on this forum. Style, courtesy, etc. DO matter.

I see a simple truth...
You can't be given knowledge. It must be earned. I see no evidence you are expending effort. Thus I doubt you will receive the reward you seek.

If you earn the trust and respect of jumpers, they typically give tremendous amounts of information away. (And they have posted amazing amounts on this site.) If you are not getting the "correct" answers, work on the trust and respect angle. Motivate people to assist you.

dear Moo,

you will find that nobody on this forum desires to put out any information. Such is the nature of this sport. Perhaps you should go to your nearest dropzone - they will put out a plethora of skydiving information for a $75 single coach jump

Re: [cowsuit] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
In reply to:
I have around 1500 skydives,
I'm not buying it. Someone with that many jumps even if done at a single DZ, would have built up a vast number of contacts around the globe.

Maybe someone will give you the benefit of doubt and PM you. Keep in mind a mentor is going to want solid proof. They may even want to go skydiving with you for an evaluation.

There once was a girl in West Virginia. that would tell you that trying to BS your way into Base will get you blacklisted quicker than intermittent use of the shift key.

what advice are you looking for? If you have 1500 skydives, go to the dz and meet some people. Adventure Skydiving <== click that

Going to the Perrine isn't the only way to begin but it's a good one. If you want to take a course, you can contact Miles who lives there or Johnny Utah puts on a good course. You must arrange the course though.

Winipeg to Twin Falls Idaho

That's actually pretty funny. I can appreciate that humor,

Read a bit on this site and http://blincmagazine.com

Re: [cowsuit] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
My apologies Mr. Meiry. I don't want to plaster your full name in the forums. Idid a bit of searching and you seem to check out. D license, DZ you jump at etc.

http://www.skykef.co.il/index.php

What I don't understand is why all the secrecy ?

As you've already found out the Base community is not all that trusting. If you're going to be vague, then you have to develop a "thick skin" to look for answers here. Hardly a week goes by that someone doesn't stumble into these forums saying they're ready to start Base jumping. Most commonly their prior experience with parachuting is a video/video game.

You would probably had better luck and less flaming with something like..............

Hi, my name is ________. I'm currently a Israeli tandem instructor at SkyKef DZ and I will soon be moving to Winnipeg. I have always considered Base but was too busy dodging Hamas rockets to pursue it. I was wondering if someone would give me some contacts of Basejumpers in the Winnipeg area that I can talk to about Base. I'm more than happy to provide references.

Cheers.

A little background goes a long way around here.

Does anybody remember the name of the Israeli girl that used to pack parachutes at Bridgeday ? She is living in Israel right now AFAIK. She could probably provide you with some contacts.

her name is Inbar, and last I talked to her she was a rigger at Perris (Oct 2008). She has not BASE jumped since 2005.

Re: [vid666] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
I wasn't concerned about her currency as much, but more to the fact that they're both Israeli and possibly know some of the same people.

Re: [stitch] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
Haha, okay my friend, i get you :)

First i didn't mean to be vauge, sorry if i came off that way. I just had no clue there's so much mistrust around. I just don't see any reason fo it.

As far as going "i have 1500 skydives and i'm a Tandem and AFF instructor" Seemed cocky to me, and since i have no calling being cocky in BASE i just assumed humiliy would be a better run.

Also, i have head about TwinFalls bridge many times, and all the courses (as far as manifacturers and mentors) do it there, i had no clue it's called Perrine. So there.

I appriciate good information, and i already noticed there's a lot of misdirection around.

As fas as checking up on me, seems like you're not messing around :) I just don't put out my name since everyone in the community calls me Moo and no one can pronounce my name anyways.

So that being said, My plan was to try and get a clue about base in Canada, if that wouldn't be possible i would have to come down after the season to Idaho.

Any thoughts?

Re: [TreeRat] BASE course/mentor in Canada?
What's wrong with that? Sometimes people don't know where to start searching without asking someone where to begin.

Granted looking up the location of the Perrine is easy but realize not everyone sits in front of a screen all day.
