Do you happen to have that on video? I mean the 196ft freefall with OSP (which size?). I've personally FF'd 194ft over concrete with DW Troll 265 two times and a friend of mine has done that with unvented ACE and 205 DW Troll. Would be interesting to see how OSP performs on that range and compare it to my own recollections of our jumps. And that 95ft SL would be interesting to see as well. I personally have over solid ground 4 PCA's from 110ft (33m) and couple more from 126ft (38m) and based on those I've figured that 30m (~100ft) is my absolute minimum (over hard ground). Which size OSP have you been using on those jumps?

145 s/l and McConkey, over water but land in a parking lot at about 135-140ft, about 30 ft horizontally from launch point.

330ft free fall, bridge and building. I did a crane in Houston that might have been lower, but I don't know how high it was.

163' B over a parking lot full of cars. FF 190' S ten times or so.over grass and pavement. 215' FF S in south africa over sandy goodness.

He is jumping 265 OSP and special 52" PC.

That's actually a funny story. Me and a buddy had just opened a 400ft guyed tower about an hour earlier, that we had already climbed up and down 3 times because of wind (4th time was a charm). We drove over this bridge on the way to my place and I asked if he minded ground crewing for me while I did a mcconkey off it. I had already static lined it once with a 7ish second canopy flight. Went under the bridge and was laying the canopy out to set the breaks as a cop drove by. Tom A had told me about something he called the french method where you set the breaks with your hands by keeping them however deep you want them, so I decided to just try it that way. My natural instinct on McConkeys was to put my arms up/out, which is exactly what I did as soon as my feet left the wall. I watched the full flight canopy turn 90 left and then slam open as I weighted it. The parking lot at about 140ft was unfortunately to the right. I had time to flat turn 90 right and then flared into the nasty oily salt water. Then swam like hell for the sure and didn't move an inch. Realled in a brake line and swam to shore. He came and picked me up and let me wash my canopy at his place since I was living with some friends that would not have wanted to be woken up to that at 3 in the morning. tr027 Thanks again. I know i'm an old conservative fart from the RW days, but in 1983, using the 52" parainovators pilot chutes and skydiving canopies, Phil Smith, Eric Pearson, (our USPA Conference Director at the time) myself and Kevin Venell all did freefalls from a 172' bridge in Texas over the intracoastal waterway. We all had old skydiving rigs since there were no BASE rigs, but my old nine cell Nimbus opened like a champ. At the time it may have been the lowest freefall jumps, but not sure.
Me, Kevin's girl friend ground crew and Eric got to spend the night in Port Arthur, TX in jail, but they dropped the charges the next Mon. Fastest opening canopy I ever had.

Static lines and direct bags are BASE jumps, but if the canopy is not packed in a bag or the container, like a tard or roll over, it doesn't count as a BASE jump. Canopy must be packed.

Also disagree...unpacked jump is still a jump is it not.? A rollover is much more of a cool jump then any static line

Disagree all you want but I'm telling you the rules about the canopy must be packed before it qualifies as a BASE jump were started by Carl Boenish, whom I've jumped with in the early days of BASE and besides, I issue the numbers, so I will not qualify a pull off, tard, or a roll over as a BASE jump. If you wish to log it as a BASE jump, go ahead. By the way, any jump over water less than 100' high also does not count.

100ft +/- depending on snow pca at 5k altitude. 118 at 7k altitude onto a hard floor was worse though.

He was very good ill give you that but 100+ is routeinly done by mediocre divers at amusment parks around the country into 10' deep pools. Hell the Cliff Diving world series is done at 90 feet. So claiming anythign under 100 over water is at least laughable.

Didnt mean im claiming anything under a 100ft lol ..and my limit for jumping off shit into water without a parachute is about 50ft i dont even do that anymore it hurts to much when i fuck it up and i always brace for impact like a girl just before i hit the water haha instead of going straight but yeh fuck cliff diving fuck that...imagine belly flopping 170ft or even 100

Im not sure if tidal patterns have changed, but I actually TARDed that bridge a few years back, and I think I lasered it in the upper 120s at that time.

127ft at 7,000ft MSL indoor static line. Flik 242 2 vents ZP nose, and also my Ultralite Troll 225(PIA 240) 3 vents. Static line take away system used.

Broke my finger doing that on my first B, can confirm.

Also looks like he let it go early.

sl 140ish silo over concrete. shallow brakes 46'' blackjack 260. jumped the silo in deep and shallow multiple times and i seem to notice quite a difference in altitude at which im under a flying canopy. (shallow seems to be higher)

Object: 6' deck
Equipment: 32 square foot canopy made of 49 sheets of paper, shit ton of scotch tape, kite string, and my dads belt for a harness.
The Jump: I performed the best tard of my career
Results: left half of canopy seperated from lines upon presserization, but due to my sweet tuck and roll I walked away unharmed.

based on the clouds and PC behavior after jump I'd say really shitty winds. And maybe in a valley/depression?

I'm curious to know as well. I don't wanna do that and that's not a super low jump

B for bridge (duh). Brain fart.

The cause was a good cross wind coming down the valley. It hit the bridge in a way that caused some weird rotor. We jumped it a week earlier and had ~8 second canopy ride. On this day, we were getting a 4-5 second ride which seemed odd.

What really triggered it was when popping the brakes after opening, the canopy surged ahead and caught that downdraft just accelerating everything into shit.

This is the only logical explanation I can figure.

Even though the jump was over land, landing was in a real mud pit so nothing was broken except a cell phone.

yeh that happened to me few weeks ago i flew a canopy down a mountain wind turned so comes from behind creates a down draft that will sink the canopy like a rock aswell as bumping it around trying to collapse it.....i broke my ankle and also my phone....

i recently freefell 250' PT, with a 2 year old ravenIV packjob in a velcro container. It didnt open all that much lower than my OSP does, however when i went to turn that low was where the raven really shined! it didnt turn worth a shit, just yawed right, sunk, and placed me perfectly about 15 feet into a blackberry bush patch that was about 11 feet high. it took me over an hour to get out, and hurt like FUCK.
