Anyone traveling from Russia to States or have advice on shipping?
I am purchasing a rig from a guy in Moscow and we're having some issues getting it through Russian customs. They value the rig with all new componants, when it's not. I guess there is some law that states you can not export over a certain value amount (800 I think he said) unless you have some sort of Russian business license. Anyhow, he's going down to customs tomorrow for a 3rd try. But we're running out of time because he's leaving the country and can't take it with him, in about 10 days.
If anyone has any advice on how to get this through customs I would greatly appreciate it. OR if you will be traveling from Moscow to the States anytime soon and wouldn't mind travelling with this rig, I would be way stoked and much beer would be owed! :-)

Thanks,
Justin

I have never shipped gear to or from Russia.
However, I have shipped gear to other foreign
places and sometimes breaking it up into two
boxes helps to reduce complications.

Perhaps ship the rig and canopy seperately...

Sometimes it can help to have him ship it to you "for repair" or have him "return it to you" after he "repaired it."

the built in spell checker seems to think it should be "separately." maybe include that in English For Dummies II?

separately not seperately...

I had to edit my "English For Dummies"
post to correct for a spelling error also...
yea spelling is not my strongest suit, but
in my opinion misspelling the right word
is better than using the wrong word.

I get embarrassed by some of my phrasing and spelling as well. unfortunately, none of us is perfect.

but I think that better use of English might let posts be better understood. I wonder about the poor English as a second language speakers trying to decipher some of this...

BUT
let's get back on topic and help this guy get the gear out of Russia!

the best way (easily and safely) - to ask someone to bring..

Anyone coming from Moscow to the states before June? The seller is very limited on time at this point.
I might just have to take a refund :-(
It sucks being on different times, we usually loase a day waiting for replies.
I tried to get him to separate the container and canopy or send it as a repair, but I think he got my message after he went to customs for a 3rd try. Those dumbasses keep wanting to value the rig with new prices. I have know idea how this works, but how the heck would they know how much BASE gear goes for?
