hey guys im planning on getting into base and im wanting to get an old 7 cell chute and an old skydiving rig to do hop n pops on before i take my course out in perrine. i weight 165 lbs/ 5'8" tall. i was curious what size canopy would be a good training canopy to practice accuracy, procedures ect...and if u know anyone that would happend to be able to help me out with an old rig and or 7 cell chute. Really any 200+ square foot 7 cell would work.

Ideally, try for a 260, but don't stress about size so much that you turn down a 240 or even a 220.

scroll down to the canopy section and there are 2 fury 7 cells that will do the job.

also, practice some CRW and flat turns. Flat turns are essential to master. And realize that you can get lift without slowing down by gently using your rear risers instead of your brakes.

I use a Raven III (ex reserve canopy - no reserve rides) now for regular base jumps, base converted of course (tail pocket, mesh slider). Did the same in 1998-2002 with another one. Works just fine, slider up and slider down.
