Personal limits, experience, knowledge and talent.
There will always be some very few, who do, and will do the pionering work others fancy and think is cool. This is most of the time very talented jumpers. I know there have been done jumps, I know I would never do, have the nerve, or have talent to do. Right now there is proximity flying most jumpers want to do, and it seems they cant wait to get the time in sport, experience, and knowledge fast enough before they try. I have seen many videos on youtube where I know the jumper have alot of skydiving, basejumping and time in sport trying to fly lines in the mountains. It is scary shit to se them flopping around, on staal point, and beraly surviving every jump. I have also seen young talents, shaving the ledges in high speed, almost with no skydiving or base experience, just got the wingsuit in hand and start jumping. Both of them we can agree are dangerous to them selves. What can we do to prevent accidents?

The local poeple is the ones who is left behind every time a accident happens. Majority of the jumpers is visitors, and leaves the spot right after, and that is something you all should consider every time you visit a jumping area. Kjerag have a system taking care of everything, most other places is regulating themselves.

Re: [434] Personal limits, experience, knowledge and talent.
here we are once again, at the great question how do we stop people from failing the iq test? this is a basic psychological question in the history of man...how to control people's actions and choices, with or without a parachute. can we really control anyone? it seems as though most people can barely even make good choices themselves or be accountable for actions; whether from a good choice or a bad choice. with regards to BASE jumping, it could be failing the iq test from the start just by the fundamentals of the activity. the elite BASE jumpers will die and so will beginners, of course much of the differece comes down to wise choices and keeping your ego in check. this here lies the crux. one that cannot be solved. THE EGO CANNOT COMPREHEND DEMISE, unless it has been experienced first hand. so, what do we do about this? the only real thing to be done is self-analysis and measure the risk and reward of the actions we are taking and hope that our self-analysis isn't grandiose and delusioned.

Sounds like you all do a great job in Norway, keep up the great work : )
let's remember; in the end, none of us are permanent, let's not take ourselves too seriously. whoever lives the longest and has the most fun wins!

That's the ego comprehending danger, but not specifically demise, I think.
