Wingsuit's for BASE
Recently Sold my "pre-BIRDMAN break-up" SF3 and now am looking for a BASE friendly wingsuit.

Those of you out there that actually Wingsuit BASE, I am looking for advice on whats the "best."

I know that "best" is subjective, so let me break it down further. I would like a suit with performance, but reliability and safety should be more important.

I have about 150-200 wingsuit skydives mostly focused on performance jumps or videoing a few flocking dives.

Further info:

I have been thinking about the vampire series, but tony suits have a little bit of my interest also. I would be willing to listen to pros and cons on the BM series of suits also.

Re: [leroydb] Wingsuit's for BASE
I used a Phoenix-Fly Acro on my first jump and my V-1 on all subsequent ones; I happened to own these wingsuits already. I found the Vampire remarkably stable and the move to using the wingsuit pouch easy: I actually prefer using it as I found it easier to pull in full flight - retract arm wings and it's gone. If you're an experienced wingsuit skydiver, don't be afraid of the V-3 for BASE. I've flown a demo a couple of times from the big wall in Italy, and found it easy to fly.

From jumping in Norway, Italy, Switzerland - virtually all the wingsuiters I have seen are using Vampires; I've seen some S-Fly Experts and PF Prodigys, but very little else. Never seen anyone BASE with a Tony suit, but there's not many of them here in Europe.

Most important when you buy a suit for BASE, do the designer/producers basejump? and do they have experienced active basejumpers testing/flying the the product?

That narrows things down a bit... ShockedWink

 Agree with Pendragon.
Another consideration is currency. If you won't be flying alot then the Phantom 2 may be a wiser choice while providing the extra safety and security you're looking for.

I've never flown a wingsuit, from what I've heard a V is too technical and not for a begginer, at the same time, a prodigy you will outgrow quickly and want more, a Phantom 2 is all around good and will help you become a good pilot, then I can get the V4...hehe

Hopefully tr027 will teach me how to fly it.

Ive got a phantom2 and a V2 and most of my wingsuit base previously have been on a s3. I think the phantom is a great transition from the s3 and super easy to fly in the skydiving environment. Im bringing both to the valley in a month, so ill give you a report on which I like better. The V2 is a beast for sure though. I might even get a demo thunderbird if tony has time, so we shall see.

Re: [leroydb] Wingsuit's for BASE
i just started wingbase and i am using an Sfly expert. i had done about 50 skydives with it before taking it to the cliffs, i was completely comfy flying it off the cliff and would recomend it for ease of flying , stability and easy to remove after opening.. the Sfly has a great arm cut away system. i think if u want max perforance go with a V2 or V3. but the Sfly is nice intermediate suit for base designed by a base jumper. it feels very stabile in the dead air on exit and turns really nice.. the consistency of using the boc is nice as well.

I would also suggest going somewhere tall, like Kjerag or the ITW to start, rather than the Swiss Valley - you have more time to find and settle into an optimal flying position, and you don't need to worry as much about your exit. Those two places will afford you 40+ second delays; Switzerland will give you significantly shorter delays.

Has anyone tried PF Stealth in BASE? If yes, what do you think of it? Good?
