Moab - Reminder - It's Jeep Week
Just a quick reminder for jumpers planning to head to Moab this week. Jeep week greatly increases the number of people and vehicles in and around Moab. In the past, there has also been an increase in law enforcement officers present. During this time you will find that you be stopped for even the most minor traffic infringement. Last year a jumper received a ticket for landing his canopy in a turnout. My recommendation is to avoid landing on the road or turnouts at the moment (not that I am suggesting that one should normally land there). If you feel you have to jump exit points that bring these landing areas into play, I suggest you do it early, before the Jeeps leave town for their daily trips around the area. Car drivers can get 'flustered' on hearing a canopy open and/or seeing people jump of cliffs. My suggestion is to not jump until the road is clear in both directions and there is little or no risk in interfering with traffic.
