Sharing A Jump
Happy Sunday Gang,

Some may know the 6th day of the week
has been dubbed Freestander Friday and
as such I opened and closed a 268 footer.

The closest accessible road to the object is
approximately 1.4 miles away due to a gate.

I printed a sign that read:

Wildlife Photographer
Please Do Not Tow
Will Return Soon

Put the paper inside a folder with clear cover
and placed it on the front dash of my truck.
Of course if I am going to try and use this
ruse then I needed to bring my camera.

So I hike in wearing my stash bag, camera
bag clipped on the strap, and sipping on a
cup of good coffee.

On the way in I came across a poisonous Snake.
On Arrival was greeted by a Deer, a believe a
doe, hid my excess gear off in a shady corner and
started climbing, evaluating winds, exit side...

Decided on Exiting the side with zero horns,
see the right side in the photo, hooked up the
static line, called my reliable friend, double
checked everything 12 times, and jumped.

Good canopy, on heading, un-stowed brakes,
and began the intense / short Canopy Flight:
turned right, flew by the A, over the building,
cleared the fence & barb wire, fade right to
avoid power lines, and had a tip-toe Landing
between the gate posts.

Object Opened, Object Closed, at least for a while Wink

Re: [base386] Sharing A Jump
Nice one! That looked like a fairly tight landing area. Is that why you went SL?

As in why no shots of the jump?

If so is cause I was Solo.

Not sure if it was smart or being a puss but
between the tight LZ, solo, first jump from
a new object, 268 feet, and miles from any
help I thought it was the way to go.

So if there is no video than how do we know it really happened.

ha ha, yeah, well dude if I was gonna make
shit up and pad my log book I can promise
you I'd have more than 43 jumps Tongue

I almost brought my tri-pod with me for
the idea of setting it up and just letting it
record the climb, jump, landing, etc. but
did not want to dick around with carrying
it for 3 miles, should have though cause
man it was a wild ride!!

Looks great, by the scenery I'd say you were in south Ga. Just a guess though. Blue skies!

Re: [GreenMachine] Sharing A Jump
Actually, I got a cheap but decent camera for documentation of mals, going in, etc. gopro hero wide angle lens, attaches to helmet, simple to operate and costs 170 bucks total!!! Not excellent video quality, but at least there's some stir fry to spread around..!

Re: [base386] Sharing A Jump
I have been to this tower twice.

1st time: shot some pics, scoped
the landing area, climbed up only
part way and decided the winds
were not good for the tight LZ.

2nd time: climbed, jumped, landed,
and decided that was good enough
for me.

However, YES, this fat girl is in the
middle of nowhere, loves to be day
blazed, and we could definitely play
any kind of music you wanted... I'll
be the guy on the ground drinking
your beer & shooting your video! Tongue
