Swiss Valley/ITW End of May
Anyone planning to be running around the Valley or ITW end of May? Need to go away and play but may be traveling solo.

Not "end of May" exactly, but close...

I'm arriving into Zurich on June 1, then driving to ITW and will be there until June 12. I'm doing that portion of my trip solo, then meeting with friends back in Zurich on June 13 to travel and jump the rest of June (the "Alps Tour").

how is ITW as far as inexperienced jumpers goes. are solid subterminal tracking skills a necessity, like in lauterbrunnen, or is it a slightly more forgiving object? how are the exit points?

Haven't yet been there myself, but everyone I've talked to has recommended it as a good "beginner wall". Either that or Kjerag, but cost and unreliable Norwegian weather made me choose Brento.

I'm hoping to have some terminal A experience before June. But that's why (my inexperience) I'm starting at Brento and only hitting up the Swiss Valley later in the month.

The ITW is an incredibly simple jump...almost as non-technical as Kjerag. All you have to do is exit, provide a relatively efficient track for 8-10 seconds, and deploy. But........

Even despite the relative simplicity of this object, there have been quite a few fatalities at ITW. Both Kjerag and ITW are in my opinion good beginner objects, but they're still BASE jumps, and can kill you just as dead, especially if you're not careful.

In contrast, the Swiss Valley is sinisterly deceptive. All the exits look easy. And if jumped properly they are actually quite safe. But a small mistake in the Swiss Valley gets very dangerous very quickly. You don't have nearly the same margin for error that you receive at ITW or Kjerag.

Last note - the wind sucks at ITW. If you're going to ITW, one jump a day is already good. Two is rare, but doable. Three is almost unheard of.

In the Swiss Valley, you can easily bang out five jumps a day in the summer. The weather is just that good.

Are you going only in midsummer, or just not getting up early enough?Tongue

Hey guys,

I'm going over with my girl and she isn't too thrilled with the idea of base let alone camping out at the base has anyone go some info on cabins or a B&B in the area to stay? We will have a rental car.
