Has any of the other jumpers in this city punched him in the face yet? Not suggesting that should be done, but if this was in my town...

 I was in that town 2 weeks ago and there was a reason I didn't bring my rig. I remember when some really good heads up jumpers where in that area. These arn't the ones.

In the clip the attorney says that its not illegal now until someone changes that. It seems really fucking apparent that the more idoits that call fucking TV stations to film jumps and it won't be long before there are more laws and more bullshit to get to an exit point. i don't see how anyone would think this is positive for BASE.

Obviously people know about jumping but to call a news station when you are going to jump a building.

It's common sense that the less building owners know that people jump them the less they are on the look out for it.

But feel free to call all the local stations whenever you jump, bring them to your sites, seems like a great plan

Next tme you infom the media about BASE jumping, remember you can't call it an "underground club" if you advertise.

I know who these jumpers are and it is driving me crazy! Once upon a time jumpers from this area were respected, these cocksuckers make us look like idiots. First, I am pissed off that this happened. I know who jumped and he was talking with a friend while while having food at a restraunt during planning and someone overheard it and that's how this happened. None of his friends would have done something this stupid. Once he noticed a gathering of he picked an alternate landing area and avoided them.

then he made the news jumping the building as part of his "secret plan."

he does not listen or apparently respect anyone else's views. he only seems interested in his personal, short term gain. it matters little who he may negatively impact. in short, he really isn't part of the community. we let the no PA rule slide for people who bash Clinton/Bush/Obama because they are public figures separate from this group.

I gave him a chance to explain why this latest fiasco upset him, but not the arrest jump. his silence implies a lot. (I could be wrong, and might change my views if he writes a thoughtful piece.)

it's sad that Dave seems to ignore those who helped him in SLC, and chooses not to listen. he obviously is reasonably intelligent and can be articulate. I doubt he is a goofball. BUT if he chooses to be outside the community, he should not expect protection from attacks here.

I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment, he has sought out and gone out of his way to be a "public figure" (or as the citation he was so proud of showing off stated "pubic nuisance" which is probably closer to the truth), so, if we can bash other public figures then why not him.

We went out and hit a local A that night and then finished up at the bar up the road when the jump flashed on the TV. The volume was off so we couldn't hear anything they were talking about but my buddy looks over at it and says "I'll bet that was fucking StupidDave!"

I'm not a police investigator with high tech equiptment, but, I can capture and enlage. And, I have it from a reliable source, that officials are in the process of looking into this.

To the MN locals, there is a precendent here, I'm surprised it hasn't come up.

I would never instigate or encourage personal violence but does anybody remember a jumper named Jon Vincent? When he performed some similar shenanigans in Atlanta back in the early 90's the locals literally tarred and feathered him, videotaping the entire incident. Although Jon still did some hihgly publicised jumps after this incident, I don't beleive he did them in Atlanta anymore.

It sure sounds to me like this David needs some serious negative reinforcement.

i am curious about daves background if anyone knows him personally or at least somewhat close. is this one of those folks that gets gear, takes a course, and finds some idiots to go jump with or is/was he involved with a competent crew of people?

personally, its tough to find a crew of competent BASE jumpers to take me in. ive got 23 jumps and find that i am gonna have to slowly ease into this sport as opposed to just getting out there by myself and possibly making fatal errors. this will include proving the amount of respect i have for this sport, and all people involved with it. this is no walk in the park. of course i could get some friends to "ground crew" me and find some yahoos to hang out with, but i prefer to surround myself with people who know what the fuck is up, shown by their high jump numbers and lack of death/injury

i am curious as to who this yahoo superdave is (besides the obvious "what" he is - a disrespectful fool) and how he got involved with this sport.

I'm not sure about the name Jon Vincent, but I've seen the video, that's why I mentioned the tarring and feathering thing.

Edit to add: Forgot to mention, the video starts out really creepy. They come in, the guy freaks out, they lay down plastic and I was thinking they were about to assassinate him in his living room. Then they tie him up and tar and feather him.

I expect this won't be a popular viewpoint, but I thought I'd contribute my two cents here. As much as the guy doing this jumping seems like a real tool, I'm having a hard time getting all worked up about it, even if I imagine that this were happening in my city.

I realized some time ago that I don't actually have any power over how other people live their lives, and I'm not really sure that in these cases I should. Certainly getting all hot and bothered about that fact has, historically, ended in a lot of angst on my part with no actual results.

I'm a big fan of BASE ethics myself, don't get me wrong. If I'm in somebody else's backyard, you can guarantee that I'm not jumping without having called, and even (I think in all cases) without one of them joining me. But I view BASE ethics as a set of informal rules that we all figure we can live by, and when they're broken my response is more along the lines of "What a douchebag" than "OMG, let's beat him silly!".

I mean, really, you're in a group that trespasses on private structures, often taking great pains to avoid law enforcement, because their (and my) interpretation of "ethical" differs from that of the folks who laid down what it means to be "legal". You can't honestly expect them to all share your new definition. And if you're honestly not expecting it, it seems a little silly to get all excited when it doesn't happen.

Has anyone called this clown personally, or is basedorkjumper.com the preferred current form of contact in this situation. Maybe wwarped needs to get further involved. In fact, this might even warrant a call to Tom.

After at least 4 emails I still have not heard back from him and the pics are still floating around in cyber-space for the fuzz to admire.

well my bro is in the slc pd along with a friend and second cousin who are all chill. They have told me they wouldn't care and don't really have any idea what they are supposed to do if they saw people base jumping. My brother said he would just go up to you and say he thought it was awesome. I don't even jump yet but i was pretty angry when i saw his myspace pictures. I have driven by that B a million times thinking it was something that would be cool to jump. He couldn't have made it more obvious what it was.

I thought the same thing, I wonder what he would be saying. This would probably be the only time Wagar ever lost his temper.
