Anyone in Namibia?
I'm spending the next month or two in and around Swakopmund, any jumpers around? First round's on me Smile

P.S. Anyone have a spare left-handed sky or base rig? Angelic

Re: [Ghetto] Anyone in Namibia?
An E and a very low A. No BASE jumpers there at the moment that I know of. The dz (both dz's) folks are very cool. Watch out for hard pulls on the hire rigs; their packers have old habits they don't want to get rid of.
Have good transport, medical kit and GC if you get lucky with a rig; The E is miles from anything.

Re: [Ghetto] Left Handed?!
Geesh, that explains a lot Tongue

Good luck on your adventure!

Both DZ's? I didn't know there was more than one... I just thought there was Ground Rush Adventures, and two other companies who run tandem operations out of a van. I'll have to find the other one and check them out too.

Green, you wouldn't BELIEVE the hell that I've already been putting my arm through during this entire trip. I'm afraid to go back to the US because my ortho's been tracking my activities on facebook and he is going to beat my ass when he sees me Blush

A couple of left-handed skyjumps should be fine. What could possibly go wrong? Angelic

They're right next to each other; same runway. Both do discounted prices for sport jumpers if you jump there often enough. I've got real good memories from there.

Re: [Ghetto] Anyone in Namibia?
you looking for a lefty/one handle skydive rig? or a lefty BASE rig?

have fun man, looks epic out there. I like it.

Re: [Calvin19] Anyone in Namibia?
I'll have to check it out next time I'm at the airport. I already got a Fin hooked that I met on the bus from Windhoek Tongue

Hecker: Looking for a lefty skydive rig... but I just found out that their student rigs have the handle on the left side for AFF that releases the BOC... I figure I could just rig it in reverse and put the PC on the left Cool

A BASE rig might be kind of useless here, since I can't even climb a ladder or reach my toggles with both hands. I still can't even wipe my ass right-handed. Someday I'll get to feel like a real person again... hopefully alot sooner than 5 years CoolWinkTongueAngelicUnimpressed

By the way, Heather's out paragliding right now.. she's getting almost her whole rating for like $250 from some German instructor here. His first flight course was reminiscent of yours, except there were no dickheads in the landing area to chew us out.

Change of plans, it looks like I'm heading to Cape Town after I'm done with my Sossussvlei safari.. I'll probably head there friday night or saturday, if there are any buses that travel around that time.

pocbase, are you going to be around? Smile

Re: [pocbase] Anyone in Namibia?
Sweet, I'm getting on an intercape Sleepliner in a few hours (18:30) and you'll probably be getting a call about 24 hours after that. This is assuming the bus doesn't break down, or some fat guy doesn't end up sitting next to me and the guy in front of me puts his seat back the whole way and I have a screaming baby behind me for the 21-hour ride, in which case I will go Guano on everybody and kill the whole bus. oh crap my internet is dying must click send fast.....

When I was an economic consultant I flew frequently.
Occasionally a fat ass would sit next to me and then
attempt to raise the arm rest to give their girth more
room and I'd always stopped that shit immediately!!

Re: [Ghetto] Anyone in Namibia?
That's a long trip to do by bus. You're probably on the road now and by the time you read this, you'll never want to catch the bus again.Tongue

Re: [pocbase] Anyone in Namibia?
Actually, it wasn't so bad. It left two hours late, but was a few hours faster than normal, so I only spent 20 hours on the bus. It was almost empty, with sleeper seats, and a cute blonde across the aisle. Easiest 20 hours I've ever passed in a bus.

So here I am, in the middle of somewhere, with all my shit plopped down in some random hostel, and I'm at a random internet cafe in randomville. I'm going to find a random place that sells SIM cards so I can pop one in my phone and give you one of those random stranger calls out of nowhere. Be prepared Wink

Any regrets now on leaving Swakopmund?

Re: [pocbase] Anyone in Namibia?
Yea, jeez, yesterday was crazy! I think I spent about $50 Billion of Robert Mugabe's money on tips to local jumpers yesterday so they would be my friends. Cool

Nope, wwarped, no regrets about leaving Swakop. Except that I'm going to have a hard time finding a quiet enough place to catch up on work here, unless I can find a guest room available with internet and I get to the top of the waiting list for a US$195/mo VW Beetle rental.

The cafe I'm at right now has been playing this really annoying love song on repeat for the past 20 minutes, and the chorus is "You drive me craaaaaaaaazyyyyyyy.... you drive me craaaaaaaaazyyyyyy"...

I'm about to start singing it back.

You stole money from Bob?
I maxed out my credit cards last night buying drinks to everyone because I am now a billionaire. The only thing worrying me is the note is blue and I thought all your notes were green... Ah well, I'll see when I go cash it.

I think wwarped got a better deal on a little corsa; check out the alternatives.

As I read that I realize I am listening to System of a Down's 'Psycho' song.
It's a bit better and I havn't listened to this album in a while.

Go to Plett, it's a small town with a little dz and an awesome backpackers, perfect. They will still play cheesy pop at the internet cafe but it should be quieter and allow you to get some work done.

As for me, I am sorry I havn't called yet or havn't been more hospitable, but I am starting to stress about this work thing. It's horrible sitting around waiting for a phone call...Unsure
