Tonsai jumping
I'm heading off to Thailand in Apr on a climbing trip and was wondering if I should take my rig as well. I've read that there's a good site around Tonsai/Railay, but there wasn't much detail. Does anyone has any info/contacts for over there.

Cheers

Re: [runnit] Tonsai jumping
I am at the moment jumping in Ton Sai. Beatiful 125m E with nice landing area. The clime though is a bitch Sly
But if you are coming for climbing should not be a problem. The local climbers can show you the way couse it is a tricky to find. Just go to freedom bar at the Ton sai with your gear Smile

Nice one. Thanks.

What grade's the climb?

The 1,2,3 wall (or 3,2,1 wall as we jumpers call it) is also a great jump if you don't mind landing your gear in salt water. Extremely short and easy hike to that one. 260 ish feet if I remember correctly into chest deep water at high tide. We jumped that one a few times a day.

I confirm, the climb through the jungle is a bitch!!
In the rainy season it's even worse as everything is slippery and cascades are pissing down on your face as you climb! Enjoy!

That's where I achieved my E. Beautiful spot! The Beach and locals are great. Awesome climbing routes, on both the East and West side. I agree, the exit point is very difficult to get to, but totally worth the work! Enjoy bro!

Well, I'm sold. My rig is definitely coming along now!

So I get the impression that it's possible to hike to the exit as well as climb, is that correct? Is the way up fairly obvious or are there likely to be people around who can point out the way?

With the number of routes on the wall, do you have to watch out for climbers under the exit too?

Cheers for the help so far. I'm getting even more stoked about the trip now!

It is not possible to hike to the exit point on the TS roof wall. It is a climb the whole way. Bring a pair of gloves!

Re: [runnit] Tonsai jumping
Maybe you misunderstood me. The 3,2,1 wall is a different wall than the Tonsai wall. Tonsai is the one everyone jumps and it is bigger than 3,2,1. It has an easy beach landing. It also is a difficult climb to the exit point. At least one person has died trying to climb to the exit point so far. Bring a water rig if you have one and you will be able to jump 3,2,1 over and over every day.
