crazy base-jump - fallen to death in front of the father in law

they started out together in a tandem-paraglide. it was planned that the 38yrs old would release from his father in law and that they'd land separately. it ended as a tragedy.


according to canton police the accident happened above the roundabout "fleurette". around 12:30 the 38yrs old started with his 71yrs old father in law above verbier from "ruinettes" with a paraglider for a tandem. the son in law was equipped for a BASE jump.

In montangnier, at a height of 1800 meters,the BASEjumper released himself for his jump from the paraglider. according to the paraglider-pilot, his son in laws jump went fine first.

OK, I don't like to speculate, but I'm almost sure that was not the case. You would need a very, very, very, very, very, very extreme pin tension to cause a 38, 36 or 34 pilot chute to not be able to pop the pins...

So yes, on occasion I wish to learn from facts on the internet, where ever I am in order to make better more informed choices.
