Antenna Lights Off???
Last night my buddie and I were driving past a 900' antenna we jump every now and then to check out a site. I couldn't find it where it was supposed to be. But after looking closer we could notice that every single light on the tower was out. I was wondering if anyone else has seen a broadcast antenna with no lights on. Im glad a plane didnt cruise by it would have taken out one of my favorite towers.Unsure

Check the NOTAMs of the local area. sometimes when working on towers the lights are turned off for months at a time, the only thing that the tower company needs to legally do when they turn the lights off, is file a NOTAM.

here is a picture of 608m A that had its lights OFF for about 55 days.

Its in the middle of NOWHERE, but its 2000' tall. driving up to it for a REDSHIFT attempt, we could not find it. the moon had not risen, and in order to find the half mile tall thing I took my digital camera with the ISO at 1600 and f4, over exposing the pics, and had to find the place where there was a stick in the almost black starlight. it worked, but it was already 2am by the time we found it.

30 second exposure in this shot AFTER the moon rose. but you can see no lights on this beast.
