Roland "Slim" Simpson's friends
I'm a writer compiling a book featuring some stories of adventure athletes who passed away at a young age. If anyone on here was friends with Roland please contact me. I would love to get more information on him. Stories like his should be heard even outside the base community.
Thank you, The Restless Writer

Hey, get any good stories sent to you on Slim yet ? lots of good tails on him out there. There was also a memorial video (slim a life) that Fast Al did on him. it also won a film festival award (Spinach Film festival). down-in Aussy. land.
Hard for me to resist talking about him. He had shitloads of friends and a hundred road trips jumping. He came to town and out on the DZ. just showing-up out here right after jumping Zion and doing Yosemite and ending up out running the Rangers in a foot chase. There's also the time he Solo jumped Angel Falls on his own. Or the time he got caught hiding in the 'PortaPotty' on top of a building by the local LE and they ended up just letting him Exit off the top. To him having two talus landings in one week, Giving 'learn or Die' FJC's and Showed-up and attended another local jumper's (Zaz's) wedding reception with only wearing shoes and socks for the entire time there. He was a Salsa dance fool that also could not walk by a hardcore 70's Disco tune with out dancing . He was also lucky enough to born without Shame. Was a great guy for anyone to jump with and if you jumped with him. It most of the time ended up with a story to tell.

Salsa Crazy

I was blown away when he told me, just didn't fit. He was one of the MOST hardcore jumpers out there, and to picture him Salsa dancing seemed wierd. Until of course I got to know him, as Ray said, no shame! He told me it was a GREAT way to pick up woman

Salsa, Tango & Swing* are actually the
cool kids of ballroom style dancing!!

And yes, it is a wonderful way to meet,
hold, and spend time with women.

Plus women who like to dance usually
have good rhythm and are in shape Wink
